2024 Elder Football

Talked about, but when a coach speaks out publicly about the team that means a lot more than the information on yappi that is all 3rd hand speculative information.
The quality of info on here is pretty good. Way better than anything you’ll find from local news.

I am sure there are some differences, but the personnel I hear is the same being a 3-4 defense.
They do have depth at NT, which at the HS level, is always the hardest position to fill in the 3-4. 275-300 lbs kids that can actually get off the ball are fairly limited in number.

Omar should ask if there are any openings in the coaching staff since he knows so much about how the team is constructed. As mentioned on here earlier- they have guys. Kids have developed and waited their turn. I am sure early in the season the offense will likely struggle with a new QB no matter who wins the job, new WR's a new line. They will be coached up and playing their best football later in the year. That is what you want anyway. They will be faster and physical on defense. The coaches will figure it out and come week 10 we will be in line to host a home playoff game.
I don’t know more than the coaches, but I don’t understand the logic of not using your one true Power 4 (formerly Power 5) athlete as much as possible, especially when your options are limited at RB. My only thought/hope is the Soph Craig has developed.

Elder really screwed up when they didn't hire him as Head Coach of the freshman team. If he were the head coach the team would probably win the state championship.
No, I don’t know more than the coaches and never once claimed to. How often do you see me criticize a play call or any other in game decision? It’s rare.

I’m more frustrated by the posters who don’t understand why losing Re is a very big deal. Without him and a stable run game, they’re essentially operating as a Red Zone Offense with how much the field shrinks. The only option is short/intermediate dink and dunk passing which isn’t great when you don’t have skill players that can get a lot of yards after the catch.

Breaking news: the Elder football players refused to accept their equipment for the first day of contact (Aug 1).

One player notes “why practice? We don’t have a run game and lost our superstar Re. We’ll try again next year”

Sarcastic remarks don’t replace the talent lost.

Sarcastic remarks don’t replace the talent lost. This is real life, not a movie, losing one of your best players will hurt your season. All that toughness & determination won’t help them run a faster 40,

Does anyone know when tickets for the Withrow game goes on sale? I checked Hometown and nothing. But they do have the Withrow vs Hughes and Withrow vs West Hi up.

I don't know why I let you bait me into a response but the young man you are referring to and his family are fantastic people but he is not his brother in regards to speed or athletic ability. He will be most missed as a FG kicker as he was pretty good. I have no idea what planet you are from but you are crazy. Please refer to track times on Milesplit Ohio for track meet results. There is plenty of good players who want to play football for the Panthers to be successful this season. A few players will be utilized both ways more than has been done in the past so do not talk crazy and act like there is no speed. Trust Coach Ramsey, James and Rhoden.....this team will battle and turn quite a few heads. The development of some juniors on the offensive and defensive line will be key and they are very eager to carry on the great tradition of the Panthers.

Has any OHSAA team benefited more from the expansion to 7 football divisions than La Salle? 0 postseason wins in school history after 40(?) years in D1 and then an immediate dynasty in D2.
Who cares? Let’s focus on Elder.

He was their entire offense on the Frosh team. The Lines might be good but they don’t have any playmakers on Offense.

You can gage talent from freshman if they played freshman. Kids are still developing most of the time. The offense is not dependent on a fast deep threat receiver.

It’ll be the same story as the past 2 years, they’ll be fine vs the lesser teams on the schedule but will not be able to get open vs the better Secondaries. What makes it more scary compared to the past 2 seasons, they have no run game. I legitimately do not know how they’ll be able to get any kind of offensive production.
We will see. Past year yrs we have had the top 4 toughest schedule in Ohio. We lost two games two yrs ago.. st Ed’s by 3 .. last yr lost with 6 sec left. Depth can be an issue because injury due to schedule. Very few high schools teams have depth all over. Moeller strength last yr is DL. 8 can play. Why they switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3.

It’s not a perfect science but there’s definitely a positive correlation.

And the only local teams they’ve lost to the last 2 yrs are Moeller & West. The same story unfolded in all 4 of those games.

And I don’t blame the coaches, but they have to figure out how to get more talent in the door. Not even a lot more, just 1-2 kids per class would make a gigantic difference.

We don’t know if he was one one of our best players…. HE ONLY PLAYED JV!!! If uran is your P5 answer.. we will see! Love him.. he is fast. Missed 5 games last yr.. can’t play corner and small lb. Ramsey has seen guys like him. Why play him both ways when he has a history of injury in 1 yr of varsity. Arnold isn’t only p4 kid we have.. i hope that’s who you meant since he has only played varsity since he been in high school. Only missed two games in career. Runs 4.6 laser at 225… still do t play him both ways in our schedule. Brayden has great size and athlete.. I’m sure coaches will get him the ball. We have lots of kids that can play.. Ramsey will figure it out. Like every yr.. last yr qb.. no one expected it, yr before.. qb, sr lb, def, flowers.. one expected that. Elder kids have a way to rise up under Ramsey and staff!
Arnold & Boeing are G5 recruits, which isn’t a knock. That’s still D1. Power 4 is the SEC, B10, ACC, B12.

Underrated players rising up isn’t enough. Again, not knocking those kids, but they need more high level talent.

We beat Moeller 3 yrs ago with two players no line and a big catch!! When we get to west.. usually key players hurt. Lost to Moeller in uc.. you go down 28-7 in 2 min.. Arnold got hurt.. DJ playing when we are in cadence.. hard to over come

Not at our school. If you can play the move you up. Previous freshman coach tried to develop kids.. most don’t play same position freshman yr.
The Frosh Team philosophy changed a few yrs ago. They went a much more developmental route and that lead to some bad W/L records. I stand by the Jr class being weak but the Sophs definitely have talent, they just need help at DB.

Jr class idk.. but you put is in exc or gmc we lose 1 game a yr at best last three

BS excuses man. They didn’t have the talent at the skill positions to keep up. Again, not blaming anyone, but that’s reality. The staff does do a very good job with what they have, they just need a little more to work with.
