2024 Benedictine Football

To answer more clearly who we will play in the first round (again, to me there should only be 8 teams that make the playoffs), it's setting up for Bene to play Tiffin Columbian, East Tech or Lexington. I guess anything can happen, but any of the three should be running clock.

Great game - they took care of business! Not to put the cart before the horse, but 8-2 is very realistic. STV is a shell of what they've been.

Can't wait for the playoffs!

Guys, we are 7-2 and heading to the playoffs! Why is everyone so quiet? Are there threads I'm not seeing?

Some of our long time posters who took time to analyze the games and provide feedback have passed away to the Lord.

I've been trying to keep up with the season and I'm excited for the post-season, but work and other obligations have kept me away.

If the Bengals keep connecting on all cylinders, I am thinking a Week 14 appearance is reasonable. Play a stellar game against TCC and we are in the state semifinals.

I will say too, the few games I have attended, I have been impressed with the variety of the offense. It would be easy to hand the ball to Chris Maloney every play, and he is a stellar RB.

But once you advance to Week 14 and play your TCCs and Steubenvilles and Bishop Wattersons, you are going to need variety, or else they will stuff the box with 7-8 guys and beat us up.

I think the coaching staff is moving the team in the right direction, in that respect. I hope that the coaching staff continues to emphasize discipline. There is something to be said about a football team that gets a first down, and instead of a "dance" after the first down, they just get back to the line of scrimmage and continue to dominate. No words needed, just get to the line and keep it going.

I had some friends tell me how bad STV was. They were right. I can't believe how far they have fallen. Even in our 0-10 season, I don't think we looked that bad.

CLEVELAND BENEDICTINE
1 (H) Gilmour Academy
2 @ Parma Padua
3 (H) Lutheran West
4 @ Chardon NDCL
5 (H) Mentor Lake Catholic
6 @ Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph
7
8 @ Erie Cathedral Prep (PA)
9 (H) Lyndhurst Brush
10 (H) Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary

This is current schedule from Ohio Scheduler. The only week open is the traditional week for St Edward-St.Ignatius, so not sure where St. Ignatius fits in in 2025.

Disappointed we took Walsh off the schedule. We played them tough and I feel those types of games help build a program. Adding Gilmour, Lutheran West and keeping Brush is terrible. I've heard we added Iggy, who everyone knows is down. Lake Catholic is graduating a TON of kids, too.
It's like we are ducking competition, which isn't something I've seen us do in the past. The positive is I see another 8-2 or 9-1 season. But this won't prepare the boys for the postseason.
To be the best, you have to beat the best. Or at least play them.

Not sure you took Walsh off the schedule. I would assume its because of the new conference Walsh is in next year. I would of liked to continue playing Benedictine as well.

That Catholic conference doesn't start until 2026, so maybe it was because we couldn't schedule a back to back. I just enjoyed the rivalry and they were 90% of the time great games!

Hate that JCU has soccer. That would've been 30 minutes further of a drive for Tiffin than Brooklyn is!!!

Not sure what I was thinking. I knew it was 2026. Anyway, you may be right. I liked the rivalry/games as well. Lets see if this new conference even survives.

Very sloppy and ugly performance by the Bengals last night. At least 200 yards in penalties. A few were taunting calls. No discipline and this was week 11!

Also , a few injuries to add to our problems. Next week Vs Defiance will be a tough one. Who’s going to be our # 1 receiver?

After the 47 TD run, where he got a PF called him, and he went to the sidelines and he flip the bird at ref. The camera caught the whole thing. The Benedictine Live Stream.
