On to Padua. Padua started to peak at the right time. This is going to be a very interesting game. Curious to see who the favorite is going to be and the spread.
Update: Bene -23
Former Bengals:
Nick Barker
Connor Williams

And Former Bengal Gene Mruczkowski’s son plays for the Bruins.

Man, I go out of town and this thread really went off the rails. I heard about the Maloney thing. There is no proof, but it still wasn't a good look. He got a PF and gestured something he shouldn't have. He's a kid and was emotional. Leave it at that. But, he's gotta be better next time.

I think we beat Padua by 20. The QB that transferred left for a reason. He couldn't hack it here and didn't have the gumption to help bring a proud program back. I don't blame him, I blame his parents. On that alone, I feel like our boys will be ready to remind him of who we are.

Stop all this nonsense. Seriously? Padua by 22? Come on.

We have one common opponent. We fought hard with Walsh and lost a tough 20-12 game. Granted, they turned the ball over 3 times inside our red zone, but it was bend don't break.

When Padua played Walsh, they lost 42-0. According to the paper, the almighty Rod Love only gained 54 yards. Maloney outrushed him vs Walsh on one run.

Pasteur has Bene -23. CalPreps has us -14.

Benedictine 35
Padua 14

That guy is a troll. He posted this on the game thread directed at me but pulled it down later for predicting Benedictine 28, Padua 10.

"You are genuinely the stupidest person I've ever come across on this app. You're unbelievable if you think the score is gonna by this close. Not only did the starting qb get cheated on 3 times, his sister is fat too. Final score 56-0."

Good luck Friday. Benedictine is a huge challenge for Padua. Like most, I figured on TCC against Benedictine for the regional final weeks ago. As I think about and look at rankings, it may not be that close. Benedictine falls between Perkins and Lake Catholic on Fantastic50's Top 50, and both put a bigger hurt on Padua than 28-10.

Don't know who you are buddy but this is the only forum I am on, just commented on the other one now though since you brought it to my attention. How did you even come up with that quote, weird guy.

Apologies meant to say Bene 42 Padua 20

I think the outcome will really depend on whether the Bengals can play smart, disciplined football. They've got to avoid the dumb mistakes and penalties that can really kill a drive or give the opponent unnecessary momentum.

Benedictine's defense has been lights out this season, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. If they continue to play at that high level, it’s going to be tough for the Bruins to keep up. The big question for me is the injury situation—hopefully, the Bengals have everyone healthy and ready to go.

Offensively, the Bengals will rely on the running game and Maloney to lead the charge. If Maloney can have another big game like he has in recent weeks, that should open things up for the offense. Overall, I just don't see this one being close. I’m calling it 35-7 in favor of Benedictine. They’re too strong on both sides of the ball.

Let’s go Bengals!

There are a ton of morons on Yappi 😂

I hate to say I told ya so but it confuses me a bit when a team goes 0-10 with a great defense and horrible offense and proceeds to make the OC the head coach. I’ve held my tongue for 2 years but seeing the undisciplined crap I saw tonight leaves me no choice but to speak my mind. Weak hire because we’re unwilling to accept alumni money and hire a head coach who can provide discipline.

I get where you're coming from, and tonight's game certainly brought some of those frustrations to the surface. The lack of discipline was tough to watch, and it's something that's been a recurring issue. The penalties and mistakes absolutely killed momentum, and that falls on coaching as much as the players.

I voiced my concerns earlier this season about some of the play-calling too, and you’re right—it caught up to them tonight. Hopefully, this game is a wake-up call for everyone involved. The potential is there, but it’s time to make some real adjustments moving forward.

Just my two cents—always rooting for this team to get back on track.

Absolutely! It is with the utmost respect to the school and the community that i make this comment. I’ve stayed quiet for a long time hoping I was wrong and the board saw something i didn’t. It’s clear to me now that they didn’t. I clearly know now that I was correct all along. Truly hoped I was wrong for the sake of my love for Benedictine, but i absolutely wasn’t

Things that went wrong vs Padua.
1. Penalties. 3 weeks in a row. Team should have been put in check after week 1 of the playoffs. Coaches?
2. Defense. Lack of discipline. Reaching. Not running through tackles, finally caught up to the Bengals. How many times are the defensive ends going to get caught inside not setting the edge??
3. Got Out Coached. Every week as a coach you need to adjust. Maloney 75 yard TD runs are a luxury. When a team shuts that down. What other creative plays do you have? Seemed like the same old, same old. Coach Prevesk had nothing in the trick bag.
4. QB play. The sophomore should have got some time in the second half.
5. Having the QB run back to the sideline every play finally caught up to the Bengals. This burned up the clock at the end.
6. Underestimated their opponent. Read their press clippings.
Respect Every Opponent!
7. Every loss in the playoffs gets magnified times 10. Hopefully the coaching staff self evaluates, makes the proper corrections for next season. Hire a new OC. Discipline starts at the freshman level.
What we saw tonight was not Benedictine Football!!!

Wasn't there but heard it was a very rough night from fellow alumni who attended the game.

It stings but hopefully sends a message as everyone else is pointing out.

9 months until August of 2025. The young men can either bail (as we saw a few years ago) or put their heads down and work together for the name on the front of their jerseys.

I hope the coaching staff does their best to create an excellent off-season schedule and keep the boys invested. There is still something special about an all-boys school that just doesn't exist at the co-Ed's. I know because I attended both.

Hoping for an even better 2025 season without such a disappointing ending.

Special shout out to the seniors who stayed at Benedictine and continued to work hard, despite classmates packing up their bags and leaving. You young men learned (and lived) a very serious truth of life: good things come to those who wait and work hard. From 0-10, to 4-7, to 10-3 - you men have much to be proud of, and you helped turn around this program.

May God bless you in your future endeavors, and go Bengals! You always have a home at Benedictine.

I am here to write about it allllll. I’m here to call out all of the delusional folks who sat there and said this program had a shot at a THIRTY point win tonight. Just stupid. Can’t tell you how many people I heard commenting on the play calls. The timeout situation….everything. But the same folks who come on here and claim they’re in the MOB. Or how about the tough guy halftime show from one of our own coaches? and the kids too….just yelling out whatever they want to. Just a joke. Gimme a break. This staff (hey Joe, I know you log on here time to time, so this is about YOUUUUU. Yup, when you pulled Yappi up when you were an assistant under Goode, the kids saw it). You’re soft. The program is soft. We care more about what the social media staff is doing than the play on the field. 100 plus yards in penalty but this guy will tell us all he’s capable for the “‘MOB JOB”

They tried to spend the money. FACT. The guy they tried to spend it on, didn’t choose Bene. Know that for a darn fact. Glory be to god.

The opening drive , all passes. The interception. Shouldn’t Maloney get the first few touches? Why start the game with what you never do ? Look at the Defiance game. 200 yards in penalties. ZERO discipline. PATHETIC.

Furst did not look healthy. He couldn’t move. Give the other kid a shot in the 2nd half.

12 men on the field when Padua punts!!!!!! And it was a terrible punt. You would have had the ball at the 20 yard line !!!!!!!

Losing a lot of talent going into the 2025 season. And who knows who transfers out.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
