I think you hit the nail on the head. #7 Shawnee hammered #10 Waverly 37-7 and #15 Urbana ,who was a no nothing in week five with no second level points, destroyed #2 Unioto 56-21. Without a doubt in my mind, Eaton does the same to those Southern schools and moves on. McNick, one of my pre-season darkhorses, is just peaking at the wrong time for Eaton.Probably for the fact you go 8-2 in the regular season and get matched up with a team that’s way better than 5-5 and has all the confidence in the world after what should have been a win over Badin. Meanwhile we play the song and dance of these Chillicothe area schools (no disrespect) getting over seeded each year just to go get smoked by a 15 seed in the first round. Just my thoughts
I was at both Badin games that year. First was week 2 of that season, Bellbrook had guys cramping left and right, as well as their all state RB (led the state in rushing that year and 15th in the country) was also playing both ways at that time, I think he focused at RB after that game.A nice showing by the SWBL in Round 1. I felt like a majority of the teams that lost still had a nice showing and good seasons. Fans in Madison and Eaton should definitely feel good about the 2023 season as a whole. Teams still alive in Round 2:
#1 Valley View (10-1 D5 R20) by 40 (99%) vs #8 Bethel-Tate (7-4 D5 R20)
#2 Waynesville (9-2 D5 R20) by 25 (92%) vs #7 Northeastern (8-3 D5 R20)
#3 Brookville (9-2 D5 R20) by 31 (98%) vs #11 Preble Shawnee (8-3 D5 R20)
#1 Badin (11-0 D3 R12) by 8 (68%) vs #9 Bellbrook (8-3 D3 R12)
I think VV, Waynesville, and Brookville should all move on pretty comfortably. Bellbrook has the most difficult matchup of the week, by far. The Eagles have met this Badin team recently. In 2021, Badin beat Bellbrook in Week 2, 17-7. They met again in the Regional Final where Badin won 21-9. Those football games were probably even more competitive than they look. I wouldn't be shocked to see Bellbrook give Badin all they can handle again in 2023.
Bellbrook won that playoff game they were winning had a roughing the kicker call, badin missed field goal so bad had no timeouts left that was game but o wait here come the flags, roughing the kicker. Badin scores 3 plays later then Bellbrook through pick 6 next drive . Terrible night to remember for the eaglesA nice showing by the SWBL in Round 1. That was a loaded team man , Seth burondi was on another level. That team could of played for the title that year , badin rolled by 2 scores the next week and only lost 14-7 in state title gameI was at both Badin games that year. That regional final game...Bellbrook was up 9-7 with 1:15 left in the game. Badin attempted a 35-yard FG that fell woefully short...Bellbrook had won...however a flag on the kick for a 5-yard running into the kicker penalty resulted in a1st down for Badin who capitalized a couple plays later for the go ahead TD. The final score by Badin was on a pick-6 on a desperation heave with about 15s left in the game.
I remember BB had them on the ropes that entire game too. Definitely good enough to have won that night.Bellbrook won that playoff game they were winning had a roughing the kicker call, badin missed field goal so bad had no timeouts left that was game but o wait here come the flags, roughing the kicker. Not that it matters, but was it a legit roughing the kicker?Bellbrook won that playoff game they were winning had a roughing the kicker call, badin missed field goal so bad had no timeouts left that was game but o wait here come the flags, roughing the kicker. Yes even being a Bellbrook fan, we killed that kicker , seemed like the refs circled up for 5 min before finally calling it . Talk about a wave of emotions one second you’re going to the state final four the next your going home. Not that it matters, but was it a legit roughing the kicker?
Looking forward to this match-up this year.
BB wins over Badin. They got kids hungry and are ready for payback. Besides I just don't like BadinI was at both Badin games that year. Game is at FairfieldThanks for the honest opinion!
Yeah, that emotional roller coaster would be tough.
Where is the game being played on Friday? Badin is the host....
Thanks , I’d been at wrong placeGame is at Fairfield
agreed, i think Bellbrook takes down Rams!BB wins over Badin. They got kids hungry and are ready for payback. Besides I just don't like Badin

I've watched that play more times than I care to admit. He wasn't killed, but definitely was run into...in reality they shouldn't have even rushed anybody on the edges. Sadly, it's one of those scenarios where it had zero bearing on the result of the kick, and likely could've been a no call 5 times out of 10, but rules are rules. There was a blatant hold on Badin (IMO) that wasn't called on the attempt, interior lineman broke through and was tackled by the RT as he was getting through the line. Unfortunately, the kid that ran into the kicker was only playing that role on special teams because the normal player was out as a result of being ruled academically ineligible (was only taking 4 classes, not 5) a few weeks earlier.Yes even being a Bellbrook fan, we killed that kicker , seemed like the refs circled up for 5 min before finally calling it . Badin is a spread team as 50/50 as you can get run vs pass. Bellbrook needs to contain the Badin offense to stay in this one. 2 years ago has zero impact on this year's game. Bellbrook took Badin off the schedule for a reason.Badin is very good, Bellbrook defense cannot have any lapses that they were prone to earlier this season. It will be interesting to see how Badin looks to attack. Bellbrook has been very sound with stopping the run and this may very well be the one game where they will be challenged (outside of VV) with a two-proned, balanced attack that can aptly throw and run?
False , friends with athletic director . It was a 1 year deal on both ends . On top of that makes sense to get gcl rival alter back on schedule over badin for several reasons but most being history and geographicallyBadin is a spread team as 50/50 as you can get run vs pass. It was a 2 year deal. 2020 was scraped due to Covid. How'd that Alter game go?False , friends with athletic director . It was a 1 year deal on both ends . On top of that makes sense to get gcl rival alter back on schedule over badin for several reasons but most being history and geographically
bellbrooks not running from competition, if that’s the case they wouldn’t have Tipp, burg and alter on the schedule . Plz
I actually thought Bellbrook would beat AlterCorrect Covid
Home to home
so again who ran ? Both teams had 2 year window didn’t reup
My point was don’t make the narrative what it’s not
alter got their win, wasn’t like the past. We will see them again. I think any bystander that night saw the bellbrook Did Everything they could to give that game away.
Did you just use irregardless? The negative and negative makes a positive. Thus and therefore, the feeling was mutual to no longer schedule a game. Is that about right?I actually thought Bellbrook would beat Alter
Badin wanted to re-up the Bellbrook game. The feeling was not mutal, that's a fact. Irregardless their playing anyway.
I indeed thought we would be alter. In all truth and I’m sure I’m not alone in this , no excuses but that was probably bellbrooks worse game performance wise on offense all year long . Missed receivers open all night , a key drop in the end zone , penalties . Since that game the team has came a long way .Did you just use irregardless? The negative and negative makes a positive. Christ, sooner of later there will be more than two genders....
AgreeMan, this will be a tough game for Bellbrook. This region is loaded at the top and will be a crazy battle even to make it to the regional final game. Badin QB is def not a runner like VV QB So really do not have to count on him on the ground. They really should be a top 4 team in the region, but everyone on the big side was down this year in the SWBL plus they played Ponitz. This game should be a regional final game or semi. I am going with Bellbrook 24 Badin 21!!!

M/L Alter wins more than it loses for various reasons.. Turnovers and the like don't occur like Papal magic. Come the 4th quarter fatigue will sometimes be a decider. People flinch. Badin wore on both Alter and McNich for example.Yeah, there were certainly opportunities...#1 dropping the pass where he would've walked to the endzone was crushing, as was the INT thrown as Bellbrook was driving. The passing game seems to have become more consistent of late and guys are holding onto the ball rather than going off their hands.
Going to be cold Friday evening, it will be interesting to see how both teams react to that.
