2023 Southwestern Buckeye League

Someone mentioned this earlier, but I love the chicken strips and potato wedges at the Eaton concession stand. That's good stuff!
This topic needs its own thread. But Eaton wedges are awesome. Not swbl but Tri Village has the best Hamburger hands down. PS Arrow Potatoes are good too

There is one currently going, but it hasn't received a whole lot of traction. I bumped it.

Uh still here Edgewood lost all Ohio 6'3" 280 lb OT and the best RB on the team who was the fastest kid on the team. Both kids were team captains. All 3 teams who smoked Edgewood are undefeated and Im sure Badin and Clinton Massie will be ranked in the state next week. This next game against CJ is huge.CJ is a very big physical team , whose only loss was to Col Hartley a power in the private school league in Columbus.Edgwood has made a boatload of mistakes thus far in the season.Stupid turnovers have really hurt.UH do like Bunk and Funk great food and produce.
First state poll is already out, I’ll let you guys do what you do and chew on this for awhile.

Off topic, but how is CM looking? They appear to be back to their old self in 2023.
I don't wanna distract the thread, so I'll keep it short. I'm pleasantly surprised cause I didn't know what to expect. This is the smallest senior class that CM has had in a long time, in fact they didn't even field a freshman team(which is rare for the football program). In my opinion the teams the biggest change from last year is the team speed has picked up, especially in the backfield. The team is still really young with 7 sophomores starting, so the future is bright, but last year really humbled a lot of coaches, players, and fans. Still ended the season on a good note, but 0-4 last year shew, worst record in 20 years had everyone on the edge. Side note... I'm a CM alum so was my dad and my son, we all played football at CM. So I keep up with the program, that throttling we got from Wyoming last year is I believe the only running clock we've had put on us since they started it, and i think alot of people (players and coaches) took that to heart as motivation.

Uh I was very impressed with Massie. Aggressive kids with a lot of speed and they dont make mistakes. Sophomore class is out standing. Edgewoods best RB broke his leg on the opening kickoff, fumbled, and it went downhill from there. I will say it will come down to Massie and Cleveland Glenville for the state title.

No distraction at all! Thank you for sharing. I hope to see the Falcons back up in Canton in December!

I thought it may have happened on the kickoff, didn't want to put it on the board. 32 is dangerous with the ball (found out a few times last year lol) hopefully he gets healthy before or at least by the playoffs.

Madison 0-6 the next 6 games. Flexing about 4-0 when you play no crossovers like everyone else is hilarious
Madison is definitely going to be tested going forward, no doubts there. Not a flex but Drew Pasteur had Madison losing to PS by 29 to open the season. That game was close in the 3rd quarter until the pick 6. Original prediction was 2-8 record by that site and here they are 4-0. We can talk about the schedule until we are all blue in the face, but other teams in the SWBL have also played some weak opponents as well, ex Ponitz Academy.
I have watched a lot of football already this season, I believe the style Madison plays will keep them in almost any game. Grinding down the field on offense and chewing clock. The defense is quick and gets to the ball in a hurry.
Again, we will all see over the next few weeks. I still believe they're being underestimated and that could come back to shock some teams who didn't take them seriously.

First off, do a little research. VV is the only team that has played a crossover so far. In fact, they have 2 crossovers as they also play Edgewood. Everybody else only has one except Madison.

As far as Madison is concerned, let those kids have their moment of glory. It's been tough there for a few years. BTW, they will beat Carlisle and maybe Oakwood.

Looking forward to the Madison vs. Carlisle matchup. That will be a good game in my opinion. It could go either way.

Uh, nah Madison will get creamed next 4 games. #9 in the state is a joke and tells you how out of touch AP writers are.

I think you can schedule one give me game a year and be fine. When you schedule 4 give me games, I think you are setting yourself up to not be prepared for league play. VV did play Ponitz but also played Bellbrook, I think they are ready for league play. On the other hand I think Franklin way over scheduled and are staring 1-9 in the face. If I were scheduling I would want one game I was 90% guaranteed a win, one game against a points cow and one challenging game.

I think it is worth mentioning Madison also has a new AD this year and a new head coach that likely had no input in the current schedule. Who on the big side would have found benefit in a cross over with Madison after the last two seasons?
For what it’s worth I have heard Poff say he prefers to stay in the SWBL and build a program that’s competitive in it, not bolt.

Franklin would benefit from it right now.

Winning any game matters with the new playoff system. Carlisle has went 2-5 the past two seasons in the league with a poor non conference schedule and punched a ticket to the playoffs in both seasons. Is there any benefit for them to “beef up” the non conference schedule?

Absolutely to be prepared and win a conference title the most basic goal of every season like they have done in the past. Not hope for a birth in the new everybody with a pulse gets a playoff berth against the scrub team Who doesn’t belong there either, and continue to lower the bar until they’re the new Dixie in SWBL.
