IMHO, there should be repercussions for false accusations -- especially if they are timed such that the accusation itself results in depriving a kid of the chance to play. It's one thing if the complaint is lodged in July; there's plenty of time to resolve it before it matters. But if (again, if) the complaint isn't lodged until such time as the investigation itself makes a kid sit out, then it can only be seen as deliberately malicious.

Think about this: Johnny Football transfers in during the summer. He plays the first 5 games. Then the week after, Bam! his old school sends a letter to OHSAA questioning his eligibility. So whaddya do? You have to sit the kid until the issue is resolved, because if he plays and OHSAA rules against him, you forfeited the game(s). Then OHSAA plays innocent and says, "We didn't say he couldn't play." That procedure has to change. At a minimum, a player should be eligible during investigation. Any other policy (e.g. the current one) requires that a potentially innocent kid and program be punished.

So the OHSAA's response to open enrollment is to penalized all transfers without cause, so the coaches know to schedule the 6th game every year, knowing they will be without those players.

I'm sure Plakas, Manos, etal. can file a lawsuit and complaint about being presumed guilty, before a case is heard!

Yep, a stature of limitations. It has to be reported by X date or it's waived. "Speak now or forever hold your peace" time.

Does anybody know the reason why Mateo is kicking tonight other than wanting to give him some experience?

Because they only have two employees to do it and over 2,000 to get through for fall sports.
That's an explanation; it's not an excuse. Inadequate allocation of resources would not justify telling kids they can't play.

To be fair, maybe his paperwork wasn't submitted until this week. Maybe it hasn't yet been submitted. Maybe it was rejected. But if OHSAA has had it since before the season, it is hard to think of a legitimate reason why it would not have been reviewed by now.

Tough night on the Tigers.

Fair with his arm in a sling and ice on his shoulder.
Wiggins with ice on his ankle.
Thought they were just seeing what Gamble could get going in the backfield until I saw Mitchell limping around on the sideline.

Wonder why they insisted on keeping Hack in there when he's limping around and the Tigers are up late 35-7.

Rest them all for a few weeks. The next 3 weeks are meaningless.

Perhaps -- but there are those who suggest that St. Johns may be the second or third best team on the schedule. Izzat true? I dunno, but I read it somewhere -- and it wouldn't be on the internet if it wasn't true.
