I was watching this interview with Gary Numan and he was asked about what albums were important to him. He mentioned this one with NIN's Downward spiral and Pretty Hate Machine. I had to give it a listen but other than a few songs I did not like much of it. Just not me....

Atmospheric Industrial Death Metal/Dark Ambient

OK, so this one was by request and I accidentally listened to Hippie Death Cult by mistake but I am glad I did... I mean, how many Death Cult bands came out with albums this last couple weeks... anyhow this was very different and genre challenging. Definitely have their roots in Brutal Death Metal but then they add an Industrial/Electronics aspect that gives it a dark ambient atmospheric feel to it..... I liked all the tracks and it will definitely grow with me as I hear it more but the one thing I did not like was the narrator which to me destroyed the flow.....

Really liked the first two tracks but did not like the next 3. With just 5 tracks overall I did not care for it. The vocals were fine at first but then started to annoy me.... Warning for me is good in a short burst but not a lengthy album.

This one grabbed my curiosity learning that Dave Lombardo was part of it. I was not expecting what I heard. I've heard bands like KMFDM and Skinny Puppy but this was just way out there to what I am used to hearing. Overall, I grew to like it once I realized this was far from traditional.

Om is the side project of the drummer and bassist of the band Sleep. 2 man gig that plays a hypnotic "drone" type of rock/metal with chant like vocals. This album had just two tracks but they were both lengthy at over 15 minutes. There were no guitars on this album which at times left it a bit missing.....

Black Metal/Blackened Heavy Metal

Well this definitely had that old school Black Metal sound to it but it also mixed in a slow doom tempo giving it a Heavy Metal sound to boot. Blackened Heavy? Never heard of that term before but anyhow the guitar tone and some riffs did remind me of a band I was in over 30 years ago which was interesting.... Overall, I did like this album but not as good as their previous one.
