How is that even possible? I mean,if you do a Friday and Saturday night every week that’s 20 games. Throw in five weeks of playoffs and that’s 10 more games. And maybe 6-8 for a championship weekend. That doesn’t even get you halfway there.
Well, not every state plays the same weekends as Ohio.
PA Started a week earlier. Utah started two weeks earlier.
For me, and mostly the same for LCF, it's like this:
For most of the regular season it's:
Thursday Night
Friday Night
Saturday afternoon
Saturday Night
Then there's places like Cleveland or Pittsburgh that will play Friday afternoon games (I saw a Friday afternoon game in rural Colorado this year). Also saw a doubleheader on Thursday night in Arvada, CO, suburb of Denver.
For playoffs it was:
Week 11: New Era Field, Orchard Park, NY (5 games)
Week 12: UNI-Dome, Cedar Falls, IA (12 games)
Week 13: One game in PA (was sick)
Week 14: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN (6 games)
Week 15: Hersheypark Stadium, Hershey, PA (6 games)
Week 16: Georgia State Stadium, Atlanta, GA (8 games)
Week 17: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX (12 games)
NY was the Section 6 Finals where the BIlls play. Week 12 was the Iowa semifinals where UNI plays. Four games a day for three days. All the semifinals and finals are held at the UNI-Dome. I was going to see at least 3 games in Week 13, but got sick after the first game of the weekend. Week 14 was the six IHSAA Finals, three on Friday and three on Saturday. Week 15 was the six PA finals, 2 games a day for 3 days. Week 16 was the GHSA state finals. Four games a day on Friday and Saturday. Week 17 was the state finals of Texas' UIL. Three games a day for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Most varsity games I've ever attended in one season was 127. In 2018 I saw 118. Last year only 98. From 2010 to 2019, I attended 938 varsity high school football games in 37 states.
Here's my season recap thread with write-ups and photos from all 98 games.
http://sykotyk.com/football/2019/12/31/2019-year-in-review/ For lifetime totals, I’ve now seen 1,164 different teams play in 336 different stadiums. This year, I saw 191 different teams play 98 games in 49 different stadiums in 16 different states. In games I’ve attended, there were 5,087...
