Crazy, to see such a harsh penalty. 3 year suspension is essentially a death penalty leaving all of the athletes with no choice but to transfer (again) if they want to compete in high school. Bassett & Gibson bros maybe end up at Blair or SEM, but about the rest of the kids? No doubt their transfers will be closely scrutinized.
Also wonder how soon the high school sports model will be become obsolete for elite athletes and shift to the private academy / club model - Valliant Prep in Az. certainly showed up at Fargo. Legends of Gold in SD and Spire w/ Kenny Monday is building an interesting alternative to traditional high school here in Ohio. The fact is that kids today are getting access to high level training and national exposure at a very young age. Objectively, what does high school wrestling have to offer a kid like Bo Bassett?
Sports like soccer, & hockey are already there. Basketball too with the many " Fill in the Blank Christian Academy" filling the NCAA pipeline ..... IMG Academy (Go ahead insert your Bishop Sycamore jokes here)!
Can't help to wonder if wrestling is far behind this trend. I could certainly sell it to a parent of a young phenom.
