OHSAA RELEASED 2025 Tentative Divisional Breakdowns (April 3) FOR FOOTBALL

I think it is interesting that Iggy has such a dramatically lower CB than Ed, X, Moe. What's up with that?

Last year Ig had 352 and this year it’s only 104. All of the Clev and surrounding area kids are going to Ed’s. 😂
Ed’s is 265 and last year it was 199.

I can't be the only fan of a D7 team hoping the Marion Local number ticks up by four somehow in the next few months....
I understand that, but I can also confidently say looking back on the season, no team in D6 last year would have given Marion Local a tougher game than Minster. That was the best Minster team I've ever seen. In my opinion Minster was better than the D6 champs Coldwater. I realize they lost to Coldwater by 3 points but Minster was missing some key pieces in that game. This year I envision Marion Local losing to St. Henry early in the year. Goodwin will pull off a miracle against the Skins in the playoff rematch. Then Hillsdale will beat Marion Local badly in the finals.

I don’t get the heartburn over the CB number when it’s about getting kids from surrounding neighborhoods that choose to go there instead of their homeschool?

Heartburn ? He wondered why the St Ig CB # dropped so much, I told him more then likely the reason why.
I don’t care if your CB # is 700, might need to be to beat us ! 🐅

The D2 cutoff is 378. Toledo Central Catholic is at 377. This could be interesting when they cement the final numbers.
nothing is going to change at this point. I think the only changes from here are going to be due to opt-ups and the residuals thereof. At least that's my understanding.

Oh I'm not concerned with Marion winning in D6, they would have easily, I just want them out of our division.

The irony/travesty is they have a D6 enrollment but get bumped DOWN due to CB.
Third straight year ML has had D6 enrollment, yet slots down to D7 because of the byzantine CB system that the member schools have no interest in making modifications to. Now, in complete fairness to ML, they are by no means the only school to slot into a lower division because of how other schools within 5-10 actual boys crumble out after their CB’s get inputted.

But, hey, the real controversy with our playoff system is when overrated teams (who oft play tomato cans) get faded in round 1 by sub-.500 teams that play gauntlet regular season schedules. No mind should be paid to an aimless calculation that over time has proven to overemphasize the impact of one or two random kids on the roster switching schools after the age of 12… in the name of “competitive balance.”

Not that my Cubs are going to be challenging for a state title this year, but I still wouldn't mind seeing them in D6.

Last year was crazy. They made the rest of D7 look like pee-wee.
ML would've won every game in Divisions 5-7 last year by 30+ points. If they were in D6 every one of their playoff games would've looked exactly the same, or worse, until they met up with Kirtland - and they would've beat them by 35+ too. Region 24 was pathetic last year outside of Coldwater and Anna, and they beat them 35-0 and 42-0. Semi finals they would've matched up with Bluffton - Grove beat Bluffton 42-0 and Marion beat Grove 41-6. No one in the lower 3 divisions was coming close to that team last year

I agree. It just seems insane that they are playing in the smallest division in the state. Is it fair, under the current system? Yes.
I may be wrong, but I bet MOST ML fans doesn't want to be in D7 either.

I may or may not have picked them over Ironton but not by no 30+. They were playing really good ball down the stretch. So was Liberty Center. No need to go hyperbolic.
