Kids from that region have always been going to the Big Ten but for the most part they are NOT the best kids. The best players have stayed in the south outside of a few. Also, so what if Georgia hasn't gotten as many or their top in state kids? They still have Alabama and Florida as next door neighbors to their state.
If a kid grows up in Alabama, Alabama or Awebun SIGNS him, with the exception of our WR (George Pickins) who went to the league last season. I've been watching UGA since Moses was in pampers, and HE is the ONLY one to wear UGA Red and Black. CONVERSELY, in the past three seasons, ALA. has gotten six of the TOP recruits in Georgia. (Caleb Downs, Will Anderson, the RB from Dalton, the LBER from Charlton Co., (Champ Bailey's alma mater, the LEGACY RB from Buford) DEION and NEB. got two others in the one who he brought from Jackson St., and the DL from Valdosta) And Nebraska got the #1 TE in America coming outta high school, Arik Gilbert.
And during Awebun's heyday, 50% of their recruits hailed from Georgia. When Bo Jackson was in the famous Awebun Wishbone. TWO of the three studs were from Albany and Thomasville, Ga., Lionel 'lil Train' James, and William Andrews. George Rogers is from Duluth, GEORGIA but won the Heisman at South Carolina! And Trevor Lawrence is from Cartersville, GEORGIA, but went to Clemson! And the #1 Center in America, and the nineteenth pick in the NFL Draft, Cameron Erving, played for the Colquitt Co. Packers., but went to FSU.
And until VERY recently, UGA got very few from Florida. THOSE went to Alabama, Florida, FSU, Awebun, and Miami, to name a few. But since KIRBY BALL has reared its beautiful head, MIAMI metro and the football factory in Bradenton, (IMG Academy) have become destinations for the DAWGS!
