Just looked at the HS rankings put out by Trackwrestling. It is not looking good for Ohio HS talent. I don't know if Flo has different rankings, but the drop in the numbers for Ohio wrestling is notable. It is easy to show those ranked from Ohio - there are not that many:
106 - #5 Beric Jordan, Fr; (SPG) #13 Dillon Campbell Fr. (Legacy Christian)
113 - none
120 - none
126 - none
132 - none
138 - #11 Nick Moore, Sr. (SPG)
145 - #4 Alek Martin, Sr (SPG); #12 Gavin Brown, Jr. (Legacy Christian)
152 - #2 Victor Voinovich Sr. (Brecksville);
160 - #1 Padraig Gallagher, Sr. (LStEd); #4 Derek Fields, Sr. (Brunswick); #8 Enrigue Munguia, Sr. (Elyria); #14 Brody Conley, Jr. (Tiffin Col.)
170 - #13 Logan Messer, Sr. (Wadsworth); #14 Luke Geog, Jr. (LStEd); #15 Dillon Walker, Sr. (LaSalle)
182 - #13 Dylan Fishback, Jr. (Aurora); #16 Sal Perrine, Sr. (Nordonia); #17 Jake Evans, Sr. (Elyria); #20 Hudson Hightower, Sr. (LStEd)
195 - #7 Seth Shumate, Jr. (Dublin Coff.)
220 - #8 Ben Vanadia Sr. (Brecksville)
285 - none
So that is 20 in total out of 280 spots listed - about 7% of all wrestlers. 5 weight classes with no one listed.
I went back and counted the numbers from Pa. By weight class:
106 - 3 including #1
113 - 1 (listed at #15)
120 - 7 (including #5,6,7,8,10)
126 - 2
132 - 4 (including #1 and #2, both Jrs.) #1 is from Florida but attending Wyoming Seminary (Bouzakis)
138 - 2
145 - 3 (including #2 and #3)
152 - 3
160 - 4
170 - 3
182 - 6 (including #1, #2, #3, #5, #7)
195 - 5
220 - 4 (including #1, #3)
285 - 3
So that's a total of 50 out of 280, or about 18% of the total and at least 1 wrestler in every weight class.
