Marion Local

25 years, 20 regional championships, 14 state championships, and 3 runner-ups.
Literal video game numbers.

saw on another thread someone claiming competitive balance doesn’t work because MSML was in 7 this year. Fairly certain Kirtland & Perry are thankful for that fact.

They likely don’t have 25 total appearances, but Kirtland would be top five, right? Like if you said minimum 50 total playoff games?

3 Mercer Co. schools in the top 8. Impressive for a county with a pop. of 40K.

Has there ever been another dynasty that was as dominant as Marion Local is now? I’m thinking no. It would be nice if no one turns this topic into an uncivilized type.
The only recent dynasty argument would be St. Ed’s. They dominate Ohio football at the highest division and play a nationally ranked schedule.
I give Marion the nod because they are public, dominate with Marion kids and most will say “they do it the right way.” Unlike privates.

Is Tim Goodwin that great of a coach? I mean, if he took job at say St. Charles or Massillon Jackson, would he turn them into contenders?

Would Chuck Kyle succeed at those places? Tiger LaVerde? Chip Otten? Tim Tyrell? I mean you could plug any of the great current coaches and ask the same question. Goodwin is, in my opinion, the best HS coach in Ohio ever with using what he has (not being at a huge 1000+ enrollment school where you have hundreds of boys that could go out) and implementing a system that maximizes what he inherits every year.
