March Madness Thread

Heard a bit of talk this morning about UNC making the cut with only one Q1 win. And, Louisville as only an eight seed. Any other controversies?

Zavier tonight.

Inquiring minds inquired...

Why aren't the First Four all 16 seeds?

Why the men's First Four March Madness games aren't just 16-seeds

The NCAA could have easily had the worst eight automatic qualifiers play in the First Four, but fans wouldn't have been too excited about watching 16-seeds play over two days. So, the NCAA settled on the format we see today: The lowest four automatic qualifiers and the lowest four at-large teams head to Dayton.1 day ago

So dumb. If we’re going to make conference tourney winners into auto-bids, they should NOT have to play a play-in game for the tournament. It should solely be the UNCs, SDSUs, Xaviers of the tournament.

Xavier’s Swain has hands of stone.

Xavier and Fremantle took a huge risk going back in with 2 fouls and 10-12 minutes left in the half. He hasn’t been super effective so far tonight but his scoring threat is needed. It’s paid off.

Texas is longer AND faster than Xavier which is always a terrible thing. They have a chance in this game because they are at home and are slightly better coached

What a great, great game.

Tre Johnson is the real deal. But he’s made some bad decisions here in the last few minutes. Got lazy on a screen, gave up a 3. Early deep three while down 1 that is short and a bad, bad foul to give up a 3 point play because of the short 3 attempt.

Texas has had some absolutely dreadful offensive possessions. If they can’t get their first play to develop they just devolve into ISO/hero ball.

Rodney Terry might have just coached his last game at Texas. His seat is going to be scorching hot next year if he returns.

Xavier closed it with a big run and Texas largely had no answers.

Creighton is clearly better than Louisville but the home crowd is tough to deal with and they are not finishing inside. If they can do that then they will win decisively

Cracking up at these announcers at the Louisville-Creighton game talking about how a water bottle thrown in the floor could have seriously hurt someone immediately after showing an angle of the water bottle - it never cleared 3 feet off the ground.
