March Madness Thread

Houston’s small guards finally did them in. You can’t win with guards that are that small. Floridas margin for error was much wider in this game considering their guards could get clean looks off from the perimeter while Houston’s really couldn’t.

Florida with the same amount of titles as OSU football in the 21st century. Pretty amazing for a “football” school. Makes me sick the SEC is on top of basketball again, even more sick it’s Florida

Really fun game, I thought Houston was going to run away with it. Clayton impacting the game in big ways despite the scoring not happening. No complaints about the final 3 games on my end. Fun end to a chalky tourney.

Gotta feel for Houston. They've been on an elite 5-year run where they've had a title-contending team each season but often lacked the finesse to close out big games in the tournament.

After the crazy Duke comeback and for the first ~27 minutes of the Florida game, it seemed like this was the year they were destined to turn the corner. Wasn't meant to be.

Will be interesting to see if they reload again or if losing players like Roberts and Cryer sets them back a peg.

Houston has 3 top twenty recruits coming in

They keep recruiting undersized players and it always seems to catch up with them. I thought last night they were going to do it but it came down to their guards couldn't slash inside without getting blocked and a few times last night they couldn't even get clean looks from the perimeter.

Fl only won by a basket. They didn't have roster problems?

A lot of teams would be happy if their roster mistakes didn't catch up to them until the NC game, lol.

Yes they would but if they want to win it all they're going to need bigger players. They were lucky to beat Duke and their lack of length caught up to them vs a more disciplined Florida team

Regardless I would pick the success they've had between both sports over OSU all day everyday. They are a true testament that you can be elite at both sports.
No way. At their peak, sure, but they’ve had some dips in football that would have OSU fans out for blood.

Agree. A lackluster tourney was saved by an awesome Final Four. I was really hoping Sampson would finally get his title, though. Maybe next year.

Florida has 3 national championships this century. Kentucky only has one
Indiana has none. It's kind of crazy that Florida and he SEC in general is considered a football school / conference. IMO the SEC is the best basketball conference in the country, not even close. And we know it's the best in football. Kentucky may not win titles, but they are generally on the upper side of things most seasons. Indiana is just a shell of itself. Used to be a blue blood program.

Pretty cool about Florida, saw this last night, they have no players who were top 100 coming out of high school. It really goes to show that you still can compete with good but not great talent. Heck Clayton was from what Iona? He must be a late, late bloomer. I'm not sure about his pro prospects, he seems to play in spurts alot. That doesn't bode well in the NBA, plus he's a guard. Guards are dime a dozen anymore in the NBA. Unless you are Steph Curry or have some other crazy talent, guys 6'6" are just guys.

That was the SEC’s first title since 2012
