Part of the reason Waynedale has dropped off the face of the earth in football is partially because they did give the job to their HOF wrestling coach for a long time. They couldn't find a candidate and took the "easy" path giving it to him. While it passed the initial smell test ("he's a great coach!") it soured quickly because his focus was still all about wrestling (Can't blame a guy for focusing on his passion) and not building a football program.

Like with any "why aren't they as good as they used to be?" question - majority of the time it comes to administrations that look at football the same way they do every other sport & club. Not saying that's right or wrong, it just is. Have heard good things about the new coach, but he's young and digging out of a hole many others have dug for him.

As for why baseball is so good - they have a Latin American (Honduran?) kid pitching for them that is LIGHTS OUT good. This past year they graduated another kid who I think went to OU on baseball scholarship. Hard to beat a 1/2 combo like that at the small high school level.
If you go to their home football field you can see what is thought of the football program. Granted a brand-new field doesn't make you any better, but it usually involves a community and administration rallying around a team or sport to make those sorts of things happen.

Haven't been there in years (not really any reason to), and I know they built a new concession stand awhile back (stomach radar), but did it include locker rooms? Remember way back when the teams would leave the stadium at halftime to go to the school and cars would be driving through the school grounds. Like a game of football/chicken. Luckily the opioid crisis wasn't as bad back then...

Very tough loss for McDonald tonight 28-21 to Milton. Blue Devils had the game (metaphorically and literally) go through their fingers with a dropped INT and then the very next play being perfectly played defense but the ball went right through the DB’s arms to the JM receiver for the game winning td.

But on the positive side, it should end up as good learning/building experience for the youngsters. The big sophomore QB ran for his 7th and 8th rushing td’s, while tossing another to a Soph WR catching his 4th td on the season. In fact, every McDonald td this year except 2 has been scored by sophomores (those 2 were scored by a jr running back)
