CBC 2019. Who you got?

Crickets from TippIsGreat lol.

We will see who the best player in the league is after week 10. Not Sure I would say Glass is the best player in the league quite yet. I think he is top 5 for sure. But I am sure Gross,Proxmire,Lemen,Gardner,Jacobs all will also have a say in who is.

Is the talent at Tipp drying up or are they being haunted by the conference move? I tend to lean towards the latter - they got too big for their britches. A winning tradition goes a long ways in high school sports. You start being mediocre and kids start losing interest. I have seen plenty of "mediocre" local teams have great seasons and make the playoffs, simply because they know how to win. I have also seen several local programs who were down turn the corner when an energetic coach is brought in and ignites a winning tradition. Success breeds success.

I agree. But to Tipp's credit, they need to be in the GWOC if they want playoff success in DIII. With Trotwood being DIII as well, it makes a very tough road for them. I bet Tipp is hoping for Trotwood to go to DII here soon. LOL!

In fairness, he logged in last night......BUT, You can’t be as utterly pompous as he is, repeatedly bashing the CBC threads and not expect to have your nose rubbed in it.

Yup. I think he has a little more respect for the CBC now. If not, he certainly should with that beating they took last night.

It's a combination of the two. The level of competition in the GWOC/MVL is higher than the CBC, but Tipp has been lacking talent for a few years now. Most years during their run of playoff appearances, they at least had a few guys that were obviously better athletes. These past few years the whole team just seems about average. Shawnee was simply bigger/faster/stronger than Tipp. In the past that could only be said about bigger schools Tipp faced, and Trotwood. On previous teams, they had a bit more talent, but also had the offensive scheme to still make things work.

I think they're breaking in a new offense under Burgbacher, and it kind of showed last night. A few more pass plays than I was used to seeing, and they don't appear to have the QB for that at this point. He missed a number of wide open receivers. Even Tipp's running game just seemed less effective than it used to be under the Wing-T. I would expect all these things to improve in the coming years as everyone adjusts to the new coaching.

I know I'm coming at this mostly from a Tipp perspective, but I don't pay attention to the CBC much anymore since Tipp is gone. Credit to Shawnee, they earned the win and have some pretty solid players. It'll be interesting to see how their season goes from here, picking up some confidence in the win over Tipp.

The CBC is not the MAC. No one is. You're going to have to get over that arrogance to be able to enjoy your "new conference."

But it's also not nearly as bad as you make it sound. I'm assuming you're talking "football" specifically. Last year was a bad year, I agree. But since 2009 (last 10 years) the CBC's top playoff performers:

2018: Northwestern - Regional Quarterfinals - Lost to State Champion Wyoming
2017: Bellefontaine - Regional Semifinals - Lost to State Runner-Up Tri-Valley in OT
2016: Indian Lake - Regional Semifinals - Lost to Ottawa-Glandorff by 5, who lost to State Champion Hartley by 3
2015: Kenton Ridge - Regional Semifinals - Lost to Bellevue by 7, who lost to State Champion Hartley by 8
2014: Tippecanoe - Regional Semifinals - Lost to Wapakoneta
2013: Tippecanoe - Regional Finals- Lost to State Runner-Up Trotwood-Madison
2012: Shawnee - Regional Semifinals - Lost to Athens by 1 after beating state power Archbishop Alter on the road by 8
2011: Shawnee - State Championship - Lost to Cardinal Mooney 21-14
2010: Shawnee - Regional Semifinals - Lost to Eaton
2009: Shawnee - Regional Finals - Lost to state runner-up Wyoming by 7

***What I've learned after doing this research (hahaha). I thought Tippecanoe dominated the CBC while they were in it. Playoff performance suggests otherwise. I also didn't realize that Urbana has been this down, for this long. That's a shame.

The CBC lost a pretty good school (as far as from a competitive standpoint) in Tippecanoe. They've done a nice job salvaging the conference and bringing in schools like Jonathan Alder, London and North Union. IMO, that made the conference stronger.

iL up 34-23 at half. Fairbanks needs to get the ball to #7 every chance they get. iL QB is running very tough Tonite and has 150 plus at the half.

Funny to listen to some IL dad's complaint about play calling ad the offense when they put up 5 TD in the half.

Heard BL gave up 50 plus already to the laughter of the locals here

NE is really bad. NW was up 41-0 at the half and had it down inside the 10 as time expired at the half.

Van Noord scored all six TDs for NW by the middle of the 2nd quarter. Three receiving, two rushing, and one punt return. I would have him in that top-tier of individual players in this league. For a WR/Return Specialist in this league he's big and strong with high-end speed. Once they get into divisional play most MR teams would probably be best served to always squib kickoffs and punt for the track.

Took off at the 3 hour mark of the IL Fairbanks game.
IL will go as far as their QB takes them. He is one tough kid. Said this last year and it continues this season, I've never seen a team, maybe a player commit OPI than on of IL WRs. He had 2 called on him tonight and should have had a couple more and I believe it was the same kid as last year. If I was an opposing coach I would put a bug in the ref ear.

With that said, talking was lacking both sides Tonite. Odd calls by Fairbanks like going for it on 4 the and one in the first at their own 25 and a few other times on third and 8-10. But IL did what was needes. iL QB ha to have over 200 rushing and took some lumps. They would be best served to get their backup some reps and protect the QB when possiblw

I think bellefontaine can win out it’ll be tough but they are just so physical. They lost to a wapak team that won’t lose a game this year and outside of 2 bad snaps they’re in the game in the 4th quarter. Gross is the best player in the League and glass is also very good. The scheduling for them prepares them so well for the league play compared to every other team. They won’t play another team with the physicality of wapak and discipline and they won’t play another offense with the talent Sidney had. That’s one thing I’ve liked about There HC since He took over for them he doesn’t schedule cupcake teams to make it look good on paper they play 3 legit playoff teams to start the year if you add st Mary’s which was only a jamboree but still a game atmosphere and no one will be close to the physicality of them.

woah there, sure they just beat the two best teams on their schedule, but the WBL is DEEP this year.. Van Wert is good again, Shawnee is decent, Kenton is always tricky, then week 10 they play OG that might be for the WBL title. I’m sure they will be favored the rest of the year, but there’s always a chance for slip up.

So any info on this Northwestern vs Milton-Union game coming up?
The two teams seem to be bulldozing their opponents.
NW has two impressive wins and so does MU. The two have split this series as of late and MU leads the series with a win back in 1980, 55-20.
Shane Carter has turned the Warriors around. Very exciting game to take place at West Milton Friday night.

I don't think much can be read into NW at this point as both teams they've beaten have been pretty weak. Milton's wins have been far more impressive IMO and I would favor them by a few TDs this coming week. We'll know a lot more about NW Friday night.

The only definitive thing I can say about NW is that the Van Noord kid is a stud and has to be one of the best players in this league. The competition so far has been bad, but through two games he has a dozen touches (carries, receptions and kick/punt returns) for about 380 all-purpose yards and 8 TDs. He's dynamite.

Is BL that bad to get motorboated that bad?
Lots of good young talent on BL. WLS played about as well of a half as I’ve ever seen a team play. No one in the OHC will beat WLS if they can continue to play like that. Game-plan was smart and well executed. At the half, WLS had 332 yds, Raiders had -11 and no first downs. It was 51-0, and that’s with 0 turnovers by either team. Hopefully a loss like that doesn’t make Ben Logan fold, they should win some games this year.

Ben Logan has always been a dumpster fire. It’s a culture thing. They love head coaches. Off the top of my head they have had around 8 coaches in the last 20 years. I can’t even remember them all. That averages out to a new head coach every 2.5 seasons and they want Fay gone now.

If someone can list the coaches that would be great.

Their field looked horrible last year. The one corner of an end zone has so far sloped down it was rediculious

I think they only school that respects Ben Logan is the school that Ben Logan planted their flag in the middle of the Tiger paw against. 🤔

Ben Logan is wayyyy better than Fridays score. It truly is a great junior class. They will win, and I’m sure they appreciate the lack of respect.

They may have a lot of potential but will never reach it...not to mention how classless their winlogan celebration is. Act like you’ve won before

For bellefontaine fans how does this offensive line stack up with other really good teams lines? I know they were highly regarded coming into the year and will need to continue to play really well with them struggling to pass the ball

The Raiders have not had a lack of talented players the past few years.
Like someone had mentioned earlier, there has been a carousel of coaches the past 15-20 years. If it wasn’t for a very talented group of players a couple years ago, the current coaching staff wouldn’t be there now.
At some point, the administration will have to stop worrying about hurting feelings and get someone in there that
1. Actually understands the game, and
2. Can completely rebuild a program.

You can’t have Jr high and high school players open enrolling at neighboring schools because of sports.

Y’all were right and I was wrong. Tipp is not good this year, In fact this is the worst Tipp team I have ever seen, and Shawnee has good players.
Oh, I bet I’ve seen worse, youngster. Tipp used to stink the place up so bad...Burgbacher is installing his culture and style. Give it time. They might have to put MU back on the schedule. 😂😂😂

Our definition of “great” is vastly different......
