2025 Federal League Football Official Thread

What schools will be bringing back the most starters? I believe Green will be returning eleven, six on offense and four on defense plus the kicker.
Correction, I believe the correct number is twelve starters, five on offense (QB Hunka, RB Reed, RB/WR McMichael,, OL Lombardi, OL Alqadhi) and six on defense (NG Lombardi, LB Reed, LB Kam Worner, LB Kaden Worner, DB McMichael, DB Georgiou) plus Noirot at kicker.

Starters who must be replaced include WR/DB Martin, WR Gregory, WR/DB Anthony Fortunato, LB AJ Fortunato, C Mc. Kendry, LB Clark, and P Bruce.

Some 2024 stats for returning Bulldog starters:

Tyson Hunka (QB class of 26) 2076 passing yards (57% completion) 17 TD, 661 rushing yards 4 TD

Evan Reed (RB/LB class of '26) 556 yards rushing 6 TD, 277 yards receiving 5 TD, 2 Kickoff Return TD.
48 tackles, 9 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 pick six.

Dario Lombardi (OL/DL class of '26)) 38 tackles, 5 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries (1 TD)

Anthony McMichael (RB/DB class of '26) 409 yards rushing 3 TD, 158 yards receiving 1 TD
90 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 interceptions, 5 PBU

Kameron Worner (OLB class of '27) 56 tackles, 16.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble

Kaden Worner (MLB class of '26): 66 tackles, 7 TFL, 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles.

Evan Georgiou (WR/DB class of '26) 19.5 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 PBU, 1 fumble recovery. 190 yards receiving.

That was my thought. But Massillon would rather play five out of state teams that bring zero fans while Jackson and the like would rather make their schedule harder to fill because Massillon might have recruited before.
No Massillon wouldn't rather play five out of state teams. Massillon wasn't the one who turned down the games against Jackson or the said others like them.

I do not know Coach Moore personally, but, I would be willing to bet that he would jump at the chance to play a home and home with Jackson instead of an out of state team.

Guaranteed he would and I'm pretty sure they have been offered in the past and their answer was we won't ever play Massillon by choice

Way more going on with that Jackson week three than simply signing a game. They were left out to dry by a few schools, they needed a home game. Other non conference weeks factored in. It is still ongoing I believe. Three out of the four out of league games were in jeopardy at one point. Just a lot of plates to spin. No clue what happens from here.

What schools backed out of playing the Bears?

I'm interested to hear how things are going at McKinley. I know they graduated some stars, but I really do think that with some new faces on the staff combined with some talented and eager underclassmen ready to get on the field and a lot of roster turnover across the board in the Fed, the Pups have a golden opportunity to put together a solid season.

Jackson has 5 home games already; I don't think Week 3 has to be a home game for them.

Maybe earlier before Chardon was scheduled it was possible but they don't necessarily need it at home now.

Is St. Edward off the table for and Fed schools due to them being a private school even with the expanded playoff format? Would be nice to play McKinley or Jackson, etc as opposed to finding OOS teams ?

Jackson does have five on the books and don't necessarily need a home game although that would be ideal. Chardon being at home helps but because it was a late addition other dominoes had to fall in place. Scheduling must be a wild ride most years.

It's really not supposed to be that wild, is the only thing.

I believe Massillon had week 3 open for quite a long while. Seems like a natural matchup to most people.
I agree. I don't have a clue what's being discussed in the background, but it would be a missed opportunity if Massillon was not at least floated. If Mentor was an option in years prior, Massillon would fit the bill of a gut-check kind of matchup, see what kind of mettle your guys are made out of.

Perhaps, there is more to the context

The Stark County Track Championships were held today and the Federal League did Federal League things and dominated.
On the boys side, the Fed took the top 5 spots, while the girls took the top 4 spots.
Fresh off their 3rd Place finish at the Walsh Jesuit Warrior Relays, Perry won the Boys Championship with 93 points. Glen Oak was 2nd with 80.
Hoover was 3rd, Lake was 4th, and Jackson was 5th. Canton McKinley finished in 8th Place. 2 smaller schools, Northwest and Marlington, took 6th and 7th.
For the girls, Jackson was the winner and Perry, Glen Oak, and Lake took the next 3 spots. Hoover was 6th and McKinley was 14th. Marlington did the best out of the non-FL teams with their 5th place finish.

Two Federal League athletes lead the state in their respective events. Daniela Scheffler (Lake) has the fastest time in the 3200 with her 10:25.79 run yesterday, which was also the Meet and Facility record. Isaiah Barker (Hoover) leads the Long Jump with his 23-11.5 earlier this year.

I remember you saying he was an accomplished TE but got some kickback. Sounds like you were right about this one. Always nice to see a local and BGSU player get drafted.
Yup, I called it back in 2022. He really took it to the next level this last season and his hard work and determination paid off.
He was one of the youngest players drafted (3rd youngest to be drafted), so hopefully he’s just scratching the surface.

its a shame if they only have 9 games. Honestly, its time to Fed schools, especially the D1's to schedule Ed's, Iggy, Hoban, Massillon, etc. Virtually every D1 team gets in the playoff anyway so why not take a crack at them and see where you measure up before its November and your team already likely thinks its going to get drilled and gives less effort anyway. Especially after they dropped Mentor and picked up D3 Chardon. I hope the investigated playing one of the other big boys but my hopes aren't high. I figured with Peterson out as AD they would pick up Massillon or an Iggy, they picked up Mentor, which was great, but man, they should have kept that game at least. IMO
