2024 Massillon Tigers

Agree to an extent. Glenville scheduled a guaranteed L against IMG but the kids got a weeklong mid season vacation to FL 😂😂😂
"Weeklong"? Wouldn't seem to be consistent with OHSAA policies, not to mention providing some insight into the stellar academic achievements of students at GA/Glenville.

They could play Glenville…

The perfect setup for my next question!

Since @dobiean178 has given me the title of an "Honorary Massillon fan," what would my "now-fellow Tiger fans" think of the following slate?

08/23 Louisville (KY) Male (the battle for win #949!)
08/30 @ Canton GlenOak
09/06 Mentor
09/13 Cincinnati Moeller
09/20 Cleveland Glenville
09/27 Lakewood St. Edward
10/04 @ Cleveland Heights
10/11 St. Joseph's Prep (PA)
10/18 @ Warren G. Harding
10/25 Canton McKinley

Unless Steubenville steps up, I can't see Massillon (not that they'd care) avoiding an OOS opponent in week 8.

What say you?

Weeks 3-8 would be something that’s for sure 😂

The 3 most difficult games on that schedule would be Moeller, Eds and St Joseph prep. I believe that if Massillon would have played that schedule this past year they would have gone 9 and 1 10 and 0. The 1 loss may have been to St Joseph Prep which loss to IMG the 1st week of the season 17 to 14 and then won 15 straight games and the Pennsylvania state championship. And who knows If Massillon had played them last year they may have beaten them.

With 5% of the kids reading at grade level, it's not clear that their tablets are good for anything but hocking at a pawn shop. Nice to see that you're dragging the youngsters out of school as well. Establish those priorities when they're young.

How you guys pimp this scam is beyond me.

Lol. It’s 2024 (2023 during the season); kids do their work from their tablets. And it may have been 5 days but either way with OHSAA’s eyes always on Ted, he was compliant. #2 nationally ranked Ginn Elite 14U was on the road as well in FL repping Ohio well bringing back two championship trophies and a runner up only losing to Mater Dei’s feeder (OC Buckeyes) at Battle YNC. All that said, those kids completed all of their school work. Speaking of that loaded 14U team, guess where 27 of them will be playing high school ball?
What are the logistics of Ginn running a youth team like that? Seems like that could be seen as “recruiting” very easily by the ohsaa

Given your dislike of the idea of playing Mater Dei (which I originally only threw out there for :poop:s & giggles), I left them out and gave y'all SJP (I started to list Cocoa from Florida, but SJP is more realistic). Personally, I don't think that there's too much of a difference, but hey, I'm only an "Honorary Tiger" just here to :stirthepot:!

At the end of the day, I think that this schedule, while maybe a tad extreme, is something that Coach Moore would welcome. Given the Tigers' recent success and potential moving forward, I may not be too far off with this one.

Didn’t you know, everyone shakes in their boots at the thought of Glenville now
Not trying to argue or anything like that and I know you guys are loaded and I don’t know who would win if they Glenville and Massillon played. What I can say is starting next season Glenville will be absolutely loaded with the 3 different age based Ginn Elite teams in the high school program at once. More importantly the coaches from the 14U are LIGHTS OUT and they’ll more than likely be headed up as well. Hoban has one class of Arm or kids and next season another will join. You guys have OTA and while they’re not playing a national schedule, they’re legit and will son be feeding kids to the high school. Again it’s not about anyone shaking in their boots, it’s more about how is beneficial to play an absolutely loaded D4 team?

To your point, clearly kids are encouraged to attend the HS and many people call these youth programs feeder systems and I think that’s fair.

Bylaw 4-9-1 A student is considered a prospective athlete after enrolling in the seventh grade, or the grade corresponding to the seventh grade for a student from a foreign country, irrespective of whether the student is currently enrolled in a public 7th-8th grade school located within a public school district or a non-public school that is part of a non-public system. Any attempt to recruit a prospective student-athlete for athletic purposes shall be strictly prohibited.

Bylaw 4-9-2 For purposes of this Bylaw Section 9, the term “recruit” shall mean the use of influence by any person connected or not connected with the school to secure the enrollment of a prospective student-athlete for athletic purposes. The Executive Director’s Office may suspend the privilege of participation in interscholastic athletics for up to 30 days during the pendency of any alleged recruiting violation.

Speaking of Mater Dei. Just a hint, a certain program located on 113th St. will be playing them in 2025 if everyone goes according to plan. Seeing their youth program was an eye opener.

Right because Moore has a track record of not playing a tough schedule. 🙄
That’s not the point. Geez. Why would he play a loaded D4 program? I don’t blame him and I was happy he played our Fr. and JV, even though our QB missed both games. You guys had nice Fr. and JV teams and we did too and we’re adding the GE kids next season so JV would be a great game next Fall. Re: Moore he plays a very strategically tough schedule which is EXACTLY what he should do. Some absolutely loaded teams and sprinkle in a Glenoak, Perry, Hoover, etc., and Harding and Mansfield. Same thing I would do if I were him with the other teams on the schedule.

Ginn doesn’t run it. It’s no different than Ohio Tigers Academy (Washington HS), Akron Armor (Hoban), Maryland Heat (St. John’s College) or the OC Buckeyes (Mater Dei) who beat Ginn Elite in the title game. No official connection to the HS but clearly created to give kids an opportunity to complete against tougher comp than middle school ball. And in the case of Ginn Elite, Maryland Heat, and OC Buckeyes the chance to travel and compete against elite national competition. To your point, clearly kids are encouraged to attend the HS and many people call these youth programs feeder systems and I think that’s fair.
Okay, it’s literally named after him so it’s hard to think there’s no connection

Just gotta space them out a bit. Can’t go 6 straight weeks against those teams. You’d be lucky to have a team going into the playoffs lol

I beg to differ. I’d put Glenville in there with the talent they have coming in. Although 2025 will be there year where it really comes together.
I was thinking maybe Glenville but isn't Glenville losing a lot to graduation? I thought I read where Moeller brings a lot back from a team that made the final 4 in d1

I like it a lot but instead of Moeler I'd prefer Elder just because we could vist the pit... and St Joe's even though it sounds cool and might have to be OOS in that week, like to see someone closer from western Pa, maybe a Pa public school..But I'm looking at that stretch between 3-8 as pretty brutal...I do want to play hts just to see the Williams kid play.. I've seen him on TV twice, he's a stud and the supporting cast is impressive... like the lousville game for sure and I expect Harding to get back to where they can be with the new coach.. It's going to be rough just because the choices go down once league play starts...when the dust settles Moore is going to do what he can I don't think for once second he isn't constantly thinking about all of this. But it is fun to come up with different possiblities plus it's January and not much else going on at the moment. I wish all the schools that really had opening would post on the OHSAA website, we really don't know who has the open dates, its not showing Massillon needing any games which makes me wonder if there's a super secret website/list that the coaches have that we don't know about or does moore have a list already and he's confident all the weeks will be filled? And Mr Malcom mentions the OTA Tigers, do they still exist? I didn't see much this year regarding them as I did in the past..I go to the website and it doesn't look upated or maybe I'm looking at the wrong site.. just curious

Elder isn’t open week 4, but I share your sentiments about The Pit!

He’s the one who said playing a tougher schedule makes a difference in the playoffs.

You must be the type who thinks that Georgia’s roster is equal to say Penn st lol

Oh right you’re the only one who has watched football since you were a kid 😂
Well I mean clearly since you named the same teams that's on the same level as Bishop Gorman,MD or Bosco but yet don't wanna play them because according to you "we would be scheduling losses" buuuut playing Dematha or Good Console is easier 😂😂😂😂 yah ok bub

I’m staying out of the pissing contest but that is truly remarkable. Will be very interesting to see how good that team gets. Keep sending them down to Columbus too.

I can tell you some stories about that neighborhood from the last couple youth seasons when we had the play up there 😂😂😂😂😂.... Damn shame you gotta come strapped to a youth football game
These Glenville guys wanna take shots at Massillon but are nowhere to be found on the unfortunate thread where the young man got shot. Two unfortunate incidents in that area in the last couple of months.

Why 4 o'clock kickoffs for Glenville you ask? Gee....I have no idea.

Love the state champs picture. Was it everything you thought it would be? By chance do you own one of the old school pickup trucks with tiger stripes painted on it? My son couldn’t believe how many old lettermen jackets and painted 1993 Fords we saw 😂😂😂
Nope sure don’t. By chance do you believe anyone on this thread gives a 💩 about your Glenville nonsense ?
