2024 Massillon Tigers

How many times in recent years have people lobbied against a schedule that would include Ed’s, Moeller, X, Hoban, etc lol but now it’s “we can play anyone in the country”.
Does your team really get better by playing teams that run them off the field or do you get better by playing highly competitive games? I’d say the latter.
How many regular season games in the last 6-7 years have we went into a game thinking we are going to get run off the field ?

You clearly aren’t understanding. My ENTIRE point is that the top 5ish teams in the country would run us off the field almost certainly but there’s a whole bunch of other extremely good teams that we could hang with and I’d rather play those teams than play a Mater Dei/Bosco type

Yeah which is also in a different state not the same city that the school is in. They played Hoban a couple years ago and kicked their teeth in btw. But I was saying you put little Akron in the same conversation as LA and NY…if you think that those are “the same” then idk what to tell ya
😂😂😂 Look at a map and talk to me about where BC is in relation to NYC.
Again YOU are ok with playing a team that could draw from an area that has a population 3 times the size of LA. That same team that kicked Hoban’s teeth in yet in post # 248 they are on your list of teams you think we should play.
Your argument is falling apart as usual.

Since you’re an expert on BC how many of their players are from NY?

Remember 5 min ago when you said I can’t give an opinion on Mater Dei because I don’t watch them live but now you apparently know that BC gets their players from New York City

Yet we finished 10th or around there in most of the final national polls, but ya we have no chance 🙄

I don’t even know what you’re arguing at this point because you keep agreeing that we shouldn’t play Mayer Dei but are somehow still mad.

Yep, there’s a difference between the 10th best and the THE best. Jesus H Christ this isn’t hard to understand.

This took 30 seconds to get right from the BC website ….Keep trying

Bergen Catholic High School is a private, all boys high school founded in 1955 by the Edmund Rice Christian
Brothers. Bergen Catholic is fully-accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools with an
enrollment of approximately 750 young men. It is located in Northern New Jersey approximately ten miles from
New York City. Students attending Bergen Catholic come from all over the tri-state area with most students living in
New Jersey while others live in New York City and Rockland County. Enrollment is selective and based on a
competitive high school entrance examination, academic records and recommendations.

“Most live in New Jersey”

I never agreed that we should NOT play them, I am 100% ok with playing ANYONE. The problem I have is the…oh we have no chance, we would get run off the field garbage that you spew. As I said win or lose a game in the regular season doesn’t matter at all anymore but playing tough teams will absolutely help in the playoffs.

I’m advocating for playing tough teams. Lol but playing a team that has a 30 power 5 recruits is where I draw the line at not being worthwhile.

You’re okay with playing ANYONE but when I suggest playing a handful of good Ohio teams you say no.
Yet you said this about St Ig “Their stupid schedule resulted in a pathetic season and early playoff exit.”
Make up your mind…
Again this was all started because of wanting to play ONE game and no I’m not ok with playing “anyone” for 10 games, as you said that’s just stupid. But for 1 or 2 games a season sure bring anyone on, because we already know we are going to have around 3 other games each season that the teams are at least competitive. All of the other games are usually up in the air as to how the teams will be. The schedule is created after the season is over so hard to know how tough teams will be, I remember Moore saying last year after the Elkhart game that he thought they would be a better challenge.

It depends on what year you play. For example Bergen Catholic played Hoban when Hoban lost 18 starters off a great state championship team. Bergen Catholic returned 17 starters. Hoban also lost 4 games that year. If they would have played the year before when Hoban went undefeated and beat Eds 35 to 0 and Massillon 35 to 6 Hoban would have beat them bad. Bergen had 3 losses that year.

I suggested 5 or 6 good games not 10 like Iggy has been doing.

You can suggest whatever you want but the reality is we are very hard pressed to fill a schedule next year. Cuz most of them think like you. Who in Ohio be willing to come up to our crib next year? St. Ed may even not.

Hoban I would actually prefer to avoid till playoffs, but for strategic purposes.

Massillon's "best" defensive player is now enrolled at Bowling Green and their best defensive tackle is only 5'11." Owens isn't a highly sought after propect either. Yet, publications saw to it to have them 10th in the nation. National polls are popularity contests based on several factors. If Pringle was committed to a Power 5 school and Wright was 3 inches taller, the Tigers would be ranked even higher.

If Pringle eventually pulls a "Caiden Woullard" by blowing up at a MAC school and eventually transfering to a national powerhouse, no publication is gonna go back and say, "Massillon needs to be reranked because their players in 2023 were even better than we thought!" If I'm a Tiger fan, I'd like my chances vs. anybody regardless of what the USA Today or MaxPreps thought.

I dunno Worm, we know you're a Warren guy but I'd say you qualify as a Massillon fan too... how about "Honorary Massillon Fan"?

I think Moe, TCC, X, Glenville, etc would actually pick up the phone unlike a lot of teams which is why I suggested them. Those teams don’t really shy away from any instate games.

If the goal is to be a top team on a yearly basis then playing the D1 Catholics is generally part of the deal.

I would try them too. Pretty sure they'd require home&away contracts. That's another thing, trying to hold onto 6-7 home games going forward.

Agreed 100%, one Massillon kid from last year is going to a P5 and that is Bond going to NC St. do more deserve to go ? Absolutely but as you said it’s more about height and weight and what you “might” become then it is talent.
As you said for them to be 10th is really incredible when so often it’s based on how many 4 or 5 star kids you have on the team and then win the state title while playing a National type schedule.

Which is why we have been playing so many teams on 1 year contracts. There has only been 1 open date so whatever works right.

Just a reminder to what happened 50 days ago…

Exactly!

Harding barely even tried to run on Massillon at all. That defense was insane. Sheesh!
