2015 Football

Only three captains this year? I can never remember a kicker being a captain, but I thought Coghlin would be a lock. Then again, I don't know the criteria. Do the players still vote?

Any position changes you know of for the upcoming season? How was the offseason? Thanks

Not for sure but Yett to Db..Smith playing both ways..

Not that it means a tremendous amount, but weren't the CYO teams weak this year?

The top Western Conference teams, especially among big schools, were definitely better than the CYO. However there was good individual talent on many teams and I think most of that talent is headed to Moeller.

Plus a few public kids and a couple feeder school kids too big to play CYO

Doubt it! He's been there..

Didn't mean this summer, not saying for sure that's why he wasn't named a capt. but there has been a lot of time away for combines, visits, showcases- probably more for him than any other moe player in that class. captains were voted in awhile ago anyways. Can't wait for first scrimmages- any word on the freshmen?

Are Moeller captains selected by coaches or voted on by teammates? Either way it does seem odd not to have your Sr starting QB as a captain, regardless of how much time he spent traveling to camps

Ultimately his play on the field and the leadership he displays will be more important than having a C on his jersey

Freshman will be very good, maybe some bumps in the road during the scrimmages but by the season pretty good.. They're very big I can say that.

In the Enquirer video interview with him yesterday, he talked like he was a captain. He mentioned about you have to be a captain all the time on the field no matter what is happening. I think he is going to have a huge year. It was also good to hear Andrew Hendrix was helping coach the quarterbacks this summer.

On this we will disagree- I think being named a captain is one of the greatest honors a player on any team can earn, it's not just a patch on the jersey.

I did not mean to imply that is not an honor, because of course it is. It is recognition by peers and coaches that you exhibit the traits of a leader.

My point was that in the absence of being named a captain, his attitude, hard work and play on the field can make him as much of a team leader as one of the named captains.

Totally agree, that he wasn't named one seems odd to many. The Sr. starting QBs seem to be a lock for that honor since the position itself is naturally a leader of the team and the past few QBs at Moeller were.

Think we're all looking into this a little too much.

When I was in the football program, QB were automatically excluded from being a Captain bc it was already an assumption that your starting QB is a leader and captain.

That's how I'd look at this if I were MacVittie.

Anyone hear or know how the WR corps looks?

I noticed that the Moeller vs. Wayne game has been moved to Sun Sep 6th at 4:00pm. I heard that it was because the game will be on ESPNU. Any truth to that?

Freshman team

Freshman team looks very good so far but looking forward to see how they look in the Blue/Gold game!! Great competition at the QB position, be very interesting to see who gets the starting position.

Your optimism is shared by each of the GCL schools however it is very tough to judge until they start scrimmaging and ultimately playing each other.

Based solely on GCYL results last year one would think Elder would have the most talent but again it means very little until they meet in head to head competition.

Best of luck the to Moeller freshmen at staying injury free and making the most of their talent

Losing Uran to LS hurts. I'm hopeful they added a few CPS kids to make this class elite. Of course, it all depends on how kids grow and mature, it's almost a craps shoot.

Is the Colerain practice/scrimmage Monday or Tuesday? I called the school last week and they said Monday. Coach Rodenburg said Tuesday on facebook and twitter. Anyone know for sure when the game is and time? Thanks

Scrimmage results? Any good, bad or ugly?

They looked good Saturday against Westerville Central. When it was 1's vs. 1's, Moeller scored a touchdown every drive. The first team defense did not give up a score. It was clear Moeller was the better team.

I did not go to the Colerain practice. I talked to a guy and he thought they were about even. He thought Colerain had a little more pep about them and seemed more fired up for it. Like I said, I didn't go. That's just what he said. Otherwise, I haven't heard much said about it.....not even on Colerain's school forum.

They play Lakota West this week. I'm not sure what West has coming back or how they are projected to be this year. Hopefully, everyone comes out of it healthy and ready to go week 1.

Did Moeller get a new coach who is calling plays? Older gentleman with glasses.....I think he was calling plays and I don't remember seeing him last year. Where did he come from?

Anyone have any details on the JV game last night against Colerain? From what I had heard our JV team was suppose to be down this year, but what a great win!!

Pleasantly surprised at JV skilled players, WR's DB, and RB.#81 Davenport has a chance to be another great Moe WR, he has size and speed. Kinda hard to think he is not on varsity at 6'2" 177, and made plays all game.

QB did a good job after a slow start. DL #58 looks allot like Elijah Taylor from last year. He will be a good one. Defense played pretty well. LB's looked good. Who is #40? Good player. Cards scored on a Pic 6 and kickoff return.

Thought Moe was well coached. Impressed when they picked up the temo at the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half. That is when #18 QB really played better as did the team.

Only glaring area of work is the OL. Little undersized. Are there soph OL's on the varsity?
