This is tin foil hat material, here.
It is patently false that SARS-CoV-2 originated in a Chinese laboratory. I am not disputing that it came from China. It did.
SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS-CoV are all betacoronaviruses. Alpha - and betacoronaviruses are descended from a bat gene pool. While bats are the primary species that are infected, humans, camels, pangolins, and rabbits can also become infected. This new coronavirus has a genome sequence that overwhelmingly shows that it originated in wildlife. If, indeed, someone were to produce a new coronavirus as a potential pathogen to be used as a bioweapon, it would have been derived from a pathogen that is already known to cause an illness - i.e., SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, etc. The genetic backbone of SARS-CoV-2 is vastly different from those other coronaviruses. There is absolutely no eveidence to support the statement that this coronavirus originated in a laboratory.
That said, China is a cesspool of filth and presented ideal conditions for SARS-CoV-2 to be transmitted from a bat to another animal that was then subsequently transferred to a human. This most likely occurred at the fish market in Wuhan. It is becoming glaringly apparent that the Chinese governemnt was aware of the virus long before it was made known to others. They have a lot to answer to.
