Oh the PC police didn't do their due diligence on this one. Akron East Orientals were not a slang name for Asians. Rather they were named ORIENTALS after the near East. You know the pyramids, shphix, oasis and such. My dad's 1935 ring from Akron East shows all those. Too bad the PC police had their way and did away with a traditional name

I never realized "orientals" was used as a slur.

Not sure if it’s been said but the Medina buckeye bucks with a deer on the helmet is about as hillbilly as it gets add in the orange hunting garb colors and it’s even worse.

Saw this one from a Florida high school Bartow. The nickname is the Yellow Jackets but the school colors are University of Florida orange and blue. Real smart.

I know this is off of the Ohio Mascots theme but I thought to point this one out. Richland HS in Washington state. They are near the Hanford area that supported the atomic bomb development in the 1940s. The HS name is the Bombers but their logo is a mushroom cloud with a R at the base of it and which also adorn their letterman's jackets. The high school pays tribute to the B-29 bombers that dropped the bombs in Japan and they have several murals throughout the school of the Enola Gay and Boxcar. But what other mascot, logo, has a freak'n mushroom cloud as their mascot?

Don't love their jerseys but I like how their helmets play into their name

Their band uniforms play up on the name well too

IIRC they did get "better" jerseys. Wasn't a fan of that black and blue scheme. Band unis are top notch though.

Folks can call us whatever they like. After all, it’s hard to be humble when you are The Big Red!! Red or chestnut, Man-O-War was the inspiration for our mascot. After all, all Man-O-War did was….. WIN. ROLL RED ROLL

Similar to Benjamin Logan Raiders. Congrats on naming your school after a dude from Kentucky who burned Indian villages full of women and children for like a week and a half which reignited a war that led to several more deaths. Way to go, Benjamin Logan!

Oh, so that’s who Benjamin Logan (county’s namesake) was. Here I was thinking all along he was just some dude who had the first farm in Valley Hi 250 years ago.

When you turn in the school's driveway the stadium is on the right and a vineyard is on the left.

Saw a game there earlier this season but didn't have time to get a shot of the vineyard.

Buckeye Central HS in New Washington is the same way but oddly try to look like Ohio State at the same time. Their girls basketball is also nicknamed the "Buckettes" instead of the Bucks.
