Licking Heights has been D2 for 10 years.

I get what your saying but no there is one case per the OHSAA division is based on number of boys that attend your school. It don't matter if they play chess football or water polo. You want to talk about extreme cases Massillon use to play in D1 as the smallest D1 school with around 480 boys and had to play the privates with 1200 boys
Correct. I am not arguing.
Just pointing out a fact that most have no clue about.
Too many posters, on here never see the whole story, and when they do they ignore what does not fit their story or version of the truth.

But but but licking height's has a bunch of chess playing Asians and they don't play sports lol
We actually have that phenomenon occurring in some of the Cleveland area districts. Towns like Lakewood and North Olmsted where the enrollments are similar to a decade ago, but the demographics have changed and skew much more heavily toward groups that don’t gravitate to playing football. I assume that’s what the poster is seeing at Licking Heights?

I understand and kind of hard to argue it when the one poster just pointed out Licking height's has 99 boys more than Massillon does.

Honestly, the weirdest thing is that the Columbus metro area (home of THE Ohio State University) hasn't produced a single D2 powerhouse high school program. You'd think all that money and population we'd be banging our heads against 2-3 good teams from down there in this region every year.
Definitely a good call.

I remember watching Canal Winchester a few times over the course of last year, thinking "if they can just get some things going on offense... maybe they can break through the Fed's part of R7 and put up a respectable performance vs Massillon (e.g. not get running-clocked)." Their defense and special teams were A-level; offense 'C-.' Once it became apparent in week 10 that their offense was still non-existent, the writing was on the wall.

Massillon's impending round 3 opponent, the 7-seed Teays Valley... on paper it'll be a pretty bad mismatch. Is what it is. I will say that I think Teays (despite the fact they lost 30-10 to Canal, the 6-seed) could actually put out a little bit more of a prideful performance for us Central Ohioans. Not that I think it'll be very competitive, no, but their coach is someone who understands just as good as anyone what playing Massillon confers.

But the funny part, but yet frustrating part with this back, and forth, I'm actually cool with Massillon. Like I said, Inever said any negative thing about Massillon here, just just about the other teams in Region 7
Exactly that's the annoying part if you're cool with Massillon then why does it matter the region that we're in? We already know that it's a weak region compared to the other ones and again what's funny is if you want to be technical R1 is extremely weak but yet nobody hounds St Ed's about their region it's just funny everybody constantly talks about Massillon's region the 💩 is irritating we haven't even got to talk football yet all we've been talking about is how weak the region is and Ohsaa for having a 16 team playoff like god damnnnn

The last time I spoke to anyone from the area those students did not play sports and they are added to the numbers.
The bottom line Heights does not belong in this division.
There has to be a better way to count students.
Man who gives af what division they are supposed to be in all I know is they got a game Friday night at PBTS @7:00 p.m.

Exactly and they are where they suppose to be per the OHSAA. Not much to argue about when Licking height's has 99 more boys than Massillon. I don't care how many of them boys are chess playing Asians and which ones are football players. It is the number of boys period that determines your division

No that's stupid because if we figure out a way to count the actual boy enrollment of the kids that actually are playing sports you will have teams like Massillon and Hoban in D7 🙄 because that number would be low as 💩. We got to stop making excuses for teams like I said LH has a game on Friday night an that's all that matters they are D2R7 that's it nothing more nothing less we got to stop trying to baby some teams because I looked and in some years they were actually a decent football team they definitely had some athletes every team goes through down years and this might be one of the down years

💯💯💯 That my friend is all facts I'm tired of non football schools crying for no reason if it's that bad take away your football team or turn your team into a club football team to where they could just play meaningless games and they don't have to play football powerhouses and you also don't got to worry about a playoff. Like damn man I know dude isn't trying to be malicious but it's just annoying constantly hearing that we are a football school everybody in the country knows that they have more boys than us like sheesh

Again though, just giving my opinion about this game, and the region. I never dissed Massillon once, but yes I did give my opinion on Region 7. My opinion also, Massillon might running clock 4 weeks in a row. All these teams will be out manned.

Definitely one of their down years lol. Zanesville beat them 40-0 and we would hang 50+ on Zanesville. We could put 100 on LH if there wasn't a running clock

Exactly and that's not our fault and you are right you have not dissed on ,but I'm not going to lie to you bro we are so used to people taking shots at us that if somebody says something remotely close to it we will get offended rightfully so though. Like I said we more than likely will outman every team in this region but that also should give somebody's teams a little bit more motivation during the regular season to schedule more confident opponents to prepare themselves for the playoffs. I absolutely hate when teams act like they do not be prepared for some of the better teams come playoff time and when you know you're going to run into some of the best teams in the state and also some of the better teams in the country. We got to stop letting coaches get away with the scheduling soft schedules just to pat their winning percentages

OL has to get a lot better once we get deeper in the playoffs. Been an issue all year. Probably just is what it is at this point.
I agree and I disagree with you yes they have to get better but sometimes they are outman that's just comes down to play calling. If you have six in the box on defense and only five offensive lineman 9 times out of 10 the D will win that series

Yep and they have to work in the pass more and the O- line has to give Slaughter time. When we get to the semi/finals I'm positive them teams will fully load that box and we will NOT run at all on them.

That's what Mck did 6 or 7 but times they only had 3 down lineman and stuffed our run.Just wait till a team throws 8 or 9 in the box. We don't learn to rely on the pass more we are done

But you got to realize McKinley stayed with six in the box damn near the entire game bro and that's not their normal tendency. The only team that can seriously man us up is hoban

Yeah I agree they did, and 6 is all it took to shut our run down. Imagine if a team throws 8 or 9 in there we would have no run but possibly have the pass open up more ,that's why I said work on that passing game I think if Mck can Hoban Walsh Avon and Anderson could prolly man up on us.

Bruh come on 😂 😂 if you got 6 vs 5 who tf you think gone win? We won the damn game what more can we ask for us is Massillon fans sometimes get spoiled we're not going to run all over everybody our passing game is more than capable of winning us a game hence what happened last Saturday. I can guarantee you no team is going to throw eight or nine in the box you are literally asking for Jalen slaughter to throw for 400 yards like I said Hoban is prolly the only team who do that to us. Anderson don't believe in defense they try to turn every game into a shootout. That honestly comes down to coaching and the offensive staff having wrinkles in the playbook and being able to adjust on the fly because teams will throw different looks at you I'm not going to sit up here and say 6 players stopped our running game because let's not act like they don't got to Missouri commit who's probably one of the best linebackers in the country along with Stout DL

Yes agree 6 vs 5 usually wins but it's not like I haven't seen 8 or 9 in the box before and that's exactly what we did to Mck in 05 playoff game to stop Morgan Williams and we put our quickest player to cover Joe Morgan and we were successful. Warren started out with 7 in the box at the beginning but changed it real quick when we started hitting them long passes right off the bat and they switched back. Bergen loaded the hell out of the box the second half as well. Easier that game because they knew we weren't going to pass for any bunch in a monsoon. I agree Slaughter would usually kill a team if they put 9 in the box but if they can blitz and get pressure he won't do much. The kid never has time back there when it comes to pass protection and if we are forced to pass against a great defense we will lose. That run is our bread and butter and that offense is centered around gamble. I'm not saying our passing game isn't capable of winning us a game but not if we are forced to do it . We need to practice it the next four weeks and get in a rhythm. We maybe throw it 10-15 times a game max just to keep the defense honest.

Bro but that's my entire point that I'm trying to prove we practice for every situation our coaches are not retarded they are good coaches and the reason why they are state championship coaches. No team in the playoffs outside of Hoban has a team that compares to Bergen or Dematha when you have the athletes to do it then yes you can be successful are offensive line in the last couple weeks has shown great improvements I'm not saying they're perfect because they're not but they have made major strides from the beginning of the season to now and it's only going to get better everybody gets upset when Massillon doesn't rush for 400 and pass for 300 yards that's not what's going to happen in the real world we are going to have to play ugly defensive games like we did against McKinley that's what comes with the territory after seeing what our defense has been doing the last few weeks they are going to be a force to be reckoned with and if we have to win an ugly ball game that's fine that's what comes with football man.By no means am I saying Walsh is not good but although that win against Hoban was impressive let's not sit up here and act like Hoban has the offense that they had in years past they are still struggling on offense like they have been doing which helped walsh out tremendously because we all know their offense is probably one of the best offenses in the state all they had to do was make Hoban try an get into a "shut out" and the game was theirs hence the fact the final score of the game was 19-14 they didn't even crack 20 points and still was able to defeat the knights I'm pretty positive our offense can score more than 19 points or at least get to 19 points while being able to hold the opponent under 10. The reason why I said we are spoiled is because everybody got used to what our team was last year that was a once in a lifetime teams that we had not every team is going to be that dominant every team can win in different ways every team each year will have their own identity and that's exactly what this team is it might not be the prettiest wins but is going to get the job done I don't give a damn how we win as long as we win I'm okay with it.

Same as long as they win I'm happy too. I know Mck played out of their minds too but they did hold us to 16 so I'm not positive we can get 19 against better teams. Sure I expect it but I'm not so confident now. Mck defense is solid but not great some other teams not nearly as good as us had over a 100+ yards more than we had and put up a couple Tds more. The run blocking to me has improved some now the pass protection still don't look much better in my opinion. The receivers don't have time get open. Now our defense while it's not last year's D we still have a very good defense this year, they are very solid. I understand this isn't last year's championship team but we definitely have the talent to win it all with this team if they play their game and don't have all the penalties.

But that's again my point you're not positive that we can get to 19 points but yet we put up 31 on St Ed's even Hoban didn't beat Ed's by double digits they beat them 24-21 again bro y'all put too much stock in one game it's a rivalry game at that McKinley has literally heard all year how they was going to get running clocked by Massillon so of course they played out of their mind so you can't use that game as the defining factor of what our Fate will be in the playoffs that's just asinine

Hell the only team that held us to under 20 was Dematha besides Mck so come on man I understand what you're saying but I think you're looking too much into it. I am by no means worried about that McKinley game I tip my cap to the pups and they coaching staff. I do the same to the Tigers staff as well they could a way to win that game and how fitting was it that Slaughter was a big factor in that
