Who are the 6 individuals and what events that won the state title by himself/herself?

The 2024 DI State Team Track Championship was won by Elyria. Elyria sprinter Mateo Medina won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes to score 30 points by himself. He’s one of six athletes in state history to win a state championship by himself.

Who are the other 5 athletes, what year and what events? (I can't find this list anywhere).

Correction on the # - There have been EIGHT (8) individuals, now, that have accounted for all the points scored by an individual winning team in Ohio history.

Page 93 of the 2024 state program, upper right, lists the then seven (7) individuals, not six. Here they are all eight (8), in order, with the events and performances:

What I'm curious about is the following:

Have there been winning teams, who had multiple individuals scoring, who still could've won based on the point output of a single individual on that team?

I suspect my answers will be shewn (yes, ole' English) in the course of my on-going compilation of all state meet results (placers) from 1908 forward. Now in my 14th year of research and compilation, with the initial 1908-1920 compilation expected out later this year, this has been a massive undertaking. One of the HUGE challenges has been, and continues to be, resolving conflicts of scoring from both newspaper & OHSAA resources and those of the listed scorers from those sources. There were MANY errors from both sources that have been propagated over the years. I finally resolved the scoring of the 1920 meet this week vs. OHSAA/newspaper accounts.

Interesting, and somewhat sad note, Barberton's Glenn Davis was only there for his junior & senior year in 1953-54. The previous year ('53), he had scored 3 points in placing 3rd (20' 10") at the state meet in the broad jump. Glenn was one of 10 children, and Glenn's parents died three days apart during the summer of '52 between his soph & junior year of HS living in WV. He then briefly resided in Marietta, Ohio, and then moved to Barberton to live with his brother to finish out HS. During the state meet of '54, Glenn wore a leather sling on his right arm as a preventive measure for his shoulder, which had been badly damaged in the fall of 1952 while playing football. Glenn's post-HS career was even more impressive, to say the least.

Sarah DeWolf - Ayersville? Girls DIII in 1995? I think 38 points with 100 (1st), 200 (1st), 400 (1st) and LJ (2nd)…. This is just recall, but you can research the specifics.

Javman already posted it.
1996 - Division III (small schools) - Sarah DeWolfe (Defiance Ayersville, Senior) - 38 pts
100 m - 1st - 12.21 sec. - 10 pts (State Div. III record)
400 m - 1st - 57.04 sec. - 10 pts
200 m - 1st - 25.41 sec. - 10 pts
Long Jump - 2nd - 18' 1 3/4" - 8 pts (winning was 18' 5", Lea Barrera (Sherwood Fairview))
I'd like to go back and look at the previous three weeks of those two going back and forth in at least three of those events (I don't think Barrera was a 400 runner...likely was on a relay). Barrera was a heck of an athlete in her own right. She just had the poor luck of having to compete in the same conference as DeWolfe.

1991 - Division III (small schools) - Lincoln Cobb (Pettisville, Senior) - 28 pts (scoring 10-8-6-4-2-1)
100 m - 1st - 11.19 sec. - 10 pts
200m - 2nd - 22.30 sec. - 8 pts (winning time, 21.91, Marion Sadler (Lorain Clearview))
Long Jump - 1st - 23' 9 3/4" - 10 pts (equalled state Div. III meet record)
Mr. Cobb was in the crowd this past weekend during at least one of the Division III sessions.

It's not quite a one man/woman state championship, but there was another unique story out of Kansas this year where twin brothers from Meade Senior High School qualified to the state meet in the 100, 200, and 400 (Brock Keith); the 800, 1600, and 3200 (Logan Keith); and were also both a part of the school's state qualifying 4x400 relay team. They went on to place in the 200 (3rd), 400 (4th), 800 (1st), 1600 (2nd), 3200 (3rd), and 4x400 (6th) and were responsible for 38 of Meade's 42 points that earned the team a 4th place finish overall.

LaVonna Martin also won the "Team" title by scoring all the points for Tratwood Madison in 1983. she won the 100H, 100 Dash and 200 dash to score 30 points. In 1992 she won the siver medal in the 100 hurdles at the Olymbic games.

The list is posted in every state meet program since 2001. It's in a section called state tournament miscellaneous records which is in the back of the programs. Prior to 2001, it appears that this section wasn't in the programs. So as it should the first list compiled in 2001 shows five boys and three girls for a total of eight. All the initial miscellaneous records were compiled by Bob Curry, Fred Dafler, and Craig Whitmore.

Those gentlemen did an incredible amout for Ohio HS T&F.

There is some confusion in how many times a single athlete has won a state championship for their school. It has been done nine times now because LaVonna Martin did it twice. So those saying eight athletes are correct. We need to distinguish between how many times it has been done (9) and how many athletes have done it (8).
