Where some teams are projected next year with 7 divisions.

Truly believe Richmond Heights will move up to Division 1 and I think they could win D1 next year with another offseason working on the chemistry with Crumble. JV was really good too they have another big who wouldve probably played varsity for a lot of schools this past season.

But heres the problem if Richmond does move up. The two small school monsters out of this area will be Cirnerston Christian and Warren JFk. Two private schools and we know how that goes lol
Those 2 schools are a long way from being in RH conversation. BK has the pedigree but RH is just different. I know other small schools would rather take their chances with anyone else then have to deal with potentially 5-6 college athletes on 1 team like RH

No. They will say they should have been there the last 3 years as well. You NEVER make those people happy.
I think if they would move up it would earn them a lot of respect. Big difference if your beating Ignatius or beating up on Russia and Hiland. It would make D1 a lot more interesting imo. We will see if they really want the competition.

They wont. Why would the coach not want to add more State Championships to his resume to ultimately potentially further his career?

I'd be suprised if they mived up and quite frankly hope they dont.

I hope they move up. State championships are not the end all be all. Its not like they would lose early. Go play D1, see what happens and let the crybaby rural schools find another enemy.

But they absolutely positively do not owe these people a GD thing when it comes to moving up in the name of "fairness of competition" or whatever else cow maneuver people try to push on here daily lol

State Championships are officially trash. Meaningless . . .
Meaningless is a heavy word so I wont go there. I cant stop laughing at D2 though. 7 divisions is too many but making it 64 teams instead of equally dividing the rest after 1 is the killer. You took real contenders out of D1 and displaced some of them all the way down to 3. From where Im sitting the smalls schools still going to run into the same problems. The OHSAA aint fix sh- and actually needs Richmond to bail them out lol

Did oshaa stop the whole “if you win so many times you must move up” rule? That’s a legit question because I thought that’s what STVM had to do back in the day?

Fortunately that was never part of the final rule on competitive balance. I personally don't care where you place a team based on given criteria, the best coaches will figure out how to compete from that spot.

But when you think of program building, to have an arbitrary penalty for success is just, pardon the crudeness here, stupid. I can imagine if such rules were in place little brother may not want to follow in successful big brothers footsteps. Parents would have to predict the importants to them of placing their kid in the best position to be successful. We should seek to be the best we can for our potential, play by the rules, and not be penalized for excelling.

Here are the enrollment numbers without the CB added in. I broke it up into:

D1 - 64
D2 - 64
D3 - D7 approximately 135

These will change when the CB is added. The best way to figure it is that the private schools are going to get a bump and the successful basketball schools with open enrollment near urban/suburban areas will get a bump.

Cornerstone in D7, Lutheran East and RH in D6?? I hope you realize that OSHAA just made it easier for those teams yall find problematic to win titles. At least they beat each other up playing in 4 divisions. Congratulations, you played yourselves.

In the past OHSAA would adjust the number of schools in a division if they were the same. IF school number 64, 65 and 66 have the same number will they put 66 teams in D1

I’m not one for participation trophies. People (not you) can’t scream get better or shut up when they are having to deal with schools that are allowed to openly recruit. I’d say have 4-5 divisions and when it’s time for playoffs, seperate public from private. I know everyone won’t agree with that and it’s fine. But all this talk about wanting to be the best and play the best. Some of these schools aren’t even getting a game in the postseason. It is what it is though.

I don’t recall much if any complaining about Cornerstone when they were competing for titles.

What does that fix ? Most of the schools you people are crying about are open enrollment publics - like Richmond Heights.

These numbers don't have CB added yet. LE and RH will likely both go to D5 once that's added in

Open enrollment but their transfer had to sit out and a few of their players in the past weren’t even from Cleveland. Yea totally legit
Next year he is eligible for the full season. Removing the privates does nothing to fix the growing issues people have with open enrollment publics. The open enrollment public school are becoming a much bigger issue and they are breaking way more rules.

Private schools used to be the only way a team could be sculpted from outside players. Now with the way public schools are using open enrollment, I could see some private schools decline.

The analogy someone gave of open enrollment publics essentially offering a full ride is spot on. These kids can plan to come together to help each other get a load of the NIL money at college. High school matters more today with NIL than it did years back.

Was North College Hill an open enrollment school? Was there open enrollment then? There have been public schools since the beginning that found ways to attract talent to their schools. Sometimes dad got a great job offer in the district.

AAU is far more important than high school for college and college coaches.
