What are you watching?

Season Finale of From. I love this show, and we finally got some real answers to the underlying mystery.

Finished season 2 of Tulsa King. Fantastic and here's hoping they make a season 3.

Started the latest Yellowstone season. Not a fan of how they had to deal with certain issues but they did the best they could I guess. Otherwise through 2 episodes it been very good. If you have a snake phobia episode 2 might be a problem.

Watched the 1st episode of Dune - Prophecy and it was excellent. This could be a very good series along the lines of Foundation.

Wondered what has happened to Ragnar. Moved over to sci-fi? I've not been a fan of the recent Dune movies but I'll give the series a shot. DEFINITLY not a fan of what Yellowstone became. Comical. Tulsa King? I saw Stallone as lead and thought it was meant to be fluff, a Lillyhammer knock-off. Maybe mis-judged that. Will definitely watch the first episode at least.

It's a bit like Lillyhammer but much better IMO. It definitely is nastier with some pretty intense plot shifts. What surprised me was how many well drawn out and likeable characters were in Tulsa King.

Finished first season, pretty much as you describe as likeable. I don't see them well fleshed out though.

For me, it would be a bit more interesting if they spread the wealth a little bit but I'm really not seeing a character or actor that could hold a scene other than Hedland/Mitch. First episode season 2, looks like they're trying with Tyson but that actor just has no gravitas. And they seemed to have lost the reservation storyline which had two of the more interesting characters. I'll finish S2 for sure though.

Happy start of watching Studio 60 season in my household.

A show under appreciated and ahead of its time, which still has one of the best opening scenes of any show ever.

Cambridge Spies (2003) Historical fiction. Ep 2. Up through Spanish Civil War and the open acts of WWII. Here we see something slowly being reflected presently in the US, a backlash against elitism (generally couched as backlash against capitalism). This episode focuses on the idea that so many of those in control are glad-handed through a few select universities.

Our history classes are so focused on the "big battle," heroics that most of our high school students miss the real causes and affects of war. Shows like this one at least nip at the heals.

And how this just played out in the murder of the CEO. People were expecting some mid or poor fed up with it type and it is what it usually is, a privileged "do-gooder" operating under their own rules to address what they see as a societal problem instead of using the societal means in place and fighting the hard fight that leads to legitimate change. Same as these Cambridge spies.

They're not "libs" as the band-wagoners want to claim. They're anarchists.

A Spy Among Friends: Another take on the Cambridge Four. I barely recognize Guy Pierce and I didn't at all recognize Damien Lewis.
