Week 1 Scores

Yappi

Go Buckeyes
Post scores from the first week of the season in this thread. I'll post a thread for each week of the season starting on Monday...

Just saw a great one between Milford and Lakota East. Scoreless at the half. Milford strikes first but West answers with a banger. Milford regains lead with 16 minutes left. Looking like Milford will hang on 2-1, but they foul near midfield and get a clock-stopping yellow card (not sure if for impeding the kick) with 0:05 left. East serves and heads in a beauty. 2-2 final in season opener for both teams.

Mason 2
Dublin Jerome 2

Jerome scores twice in the final 70 seconds. The first one came off a direct kick just outside the box off a handball. The ref marked the spot and starting walking away, Jerome took the kick while Mason was setting up their wall. I'm thinking they thought the ref was going to whistle the ball back in play. The second goal came from nearly the same spot. The Mason goalie was called for stalling with 19 seconds left. After having the ball for about 7 seconds he went to kick it, but the Jerome playing appeared to try and get in the way. The goalie stopped and then the delay was called. Jerome was given an indirect kick and scored off a rocket to the near post side of the wall. Here is the video of the final plays.

Bay beat Lexington on the road 1 to 0. After a scoreless first half. Bay had a player given a red card and ejected at the 30 minute mark of the second half for using profanity toward the referee. Several minutes later the Bay goalie was charged with a foul inside the box. Lexington had a goal kick but the shot was stopped by the goalie. With 3 minutes remaining in the game Bay turned Lexington over and scored on a 15 to 20 foot shot to win the game.
These 2 teams are usually in the regionals and it was hotly contested match to open the season. Very entertaining to watch and both teams should have solid seasons.

You video counters your summary.

Looking at the clock in the video, keeper collects ball with 32 seconds left and no Jerome player enters the penalty area to "get in the way."

I never said he went into the box, but I did rewatchthe video, and the player doesn't walk in the path of the goalie as much as I intially thought he did.

Moeller travels to Noblesville IN over weekend. Beat Okemos MI 3-0 Friday and Fishers IN 2-0 today. It is hard to tell about Moe this early especially playing 3 out of state teams but back home this week vs Mason and St X coming the following week,

The shutouts (after allowing an opening game goal) are back.

It is similar in the way that in first game they only gave up a PK in last few minutes with the reserves in the game. It will be interesting this season because they have 7 new starters . I would not expect a season like last year for a lot of reasons but mainly just varsity experience and mixing in new players will be the biggest challenge. Also I personally think their schedule is a bit tougher this year. An interesting note is that last year they won 9 games which the score was 1-0 . I believe in most cases 1-0 games would usually turn out about 50/50 in wins and losses. That was attributed to a great defense and I am sure a little bit of luck.
