The Sandy Valley Cards picked up a big win on the road tonight at Minerva, 52-48. Pacing the way for the Cardinals were Lukas Gilland with 12 points and Caleb Deubner with 10 points and 15 rebounds. (by @Yappi)
Amherst Steele 51, North Olmsted 50
Amherst Steele trailed by 1 going into the final quarter and outscored North Olmsted 9-7 to win the game. Comets freshman Jack Coleman hit the go-ahead shot with 7.9 left in the game. Dublin Coffman 48, Dublin Jerome 30
Senior PG Colin McClure scored 23 points for Dublin Coffman. Thomas Cochran added 10 and Gabe Schmidt had 8. Dublin Jerome was lead by Junior guard Ryan Kolp with 8 points. Cooper Craig and Ethan Wright added 4 points each. (by @Yappi)
Cornerstone Christian 61, Gilmour Academy 60
Hudson Funk made a 2-point shot to give Cornerstone Christian the lead at the end of the game. A defensive stop by the Patriots secured the with a final score of 61-60. Darrien Davis finished with 18 points, Asiah West scored 12, and Quinn Kwasniak had 10.

Lakota East 67, Goshen 44
In the first game of Trey Perry's swan song with Lakota East, he and the Thunderbirds dominated Goshen from start to finish, 67-44. East’s junior guard Ashton Washburn was able to provide a solid secondary scoring threat and the defense played admirably, holding a Goshen team that averaged 68.5 points a game last year to just 17 in the first half. Loveland 64, Preble Shawnee 54
Both teams showcased healthy amounts of aggression, which led to a lot of steals and a lot of fouls. Loveland's Chase Martin was in foul trouble the entire game, fouling out early in the 4th quarter, though he still led the team with 17 points. Loveland junior Blake Carrigan saw extensive action for the first time in his career and picked up 13 points and 5 rebounds, while senior Will Bertke posted 15 and 6. Preble Shawnee junior guard Brody Morton posted 17 points in the loss, three shy of his career high. (by @mrorcadood)
Little Miami 58, Mason 47
Little Miami rode a massive 24-point second quarter to a season-opening victory to close out day one of the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic. Mason turned the ball over 22 times to Little Miami's 17. Carter Sellers and Jackson Reynolds, the Panthers' top two returning scorers, combined for 28 points but also 10 turnovers. Sellers reached the free throw line often with his commanding inside presence but failed to make the most of the opportunities, finishing just 8-17 from the charity stripe. In the season-opening Paul Walker Classic, Middletown opened up a double-digit lead early over the Bulldogs with a 24-point first quarter and never let go, as they led by 19 at the half and by 27 at the end of 3. The Middies' top returning scorer, Jeremiah Landers, paced the team with 16 points as well as 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Senior Michael Maldonado, who had a strong end to his last season, added 10 points in just 10 minutes off the bench. St. Xavier 45, Fairmont 38
In the third game of the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic, St. Xavier was able to grind out a 45-38 victory over Kettering Fairmont. The Bombers were able to limit the Firebirds to just 4 points in the second quarter, giving them a 25-18 edge heading into halftime, which they would then be able to maintain for the rest of the game. The Bombers' top two scorers from last season, Jacob Wassler and Donovan Waleskowski, combined for 23 of St. X's 45 points and 12 of their 18 rebounds. Fairmont senior Evan Gentile scored over half of the Firebirds' points and posted his 10th career outing of 20 or more points. (by @mrorcadood)

Oak Hills 62, Withrow 21
This season was always going to be an uphill battle for Withrow, who lost their top three scorers from last season: two to graduation, one to the transfer portal (Avery Jordan). Oak Hills made light work of them in a 62-21 thrashing, spearheaded by a 28-2 run in the first 9 minutes of play. Highlander guard Brady Keeton sank six 3-pointers for a career-high 19-point outing, while 6'6'' senior forward Nate Riep added 14 more. Trotwood-Madison 74, Middletown 72
In a hotly contested battle to determine the champion of the Paul Walker Classic, Trotwood-Madison (2-0) edged out a victory over Middletown (1-1). The decisive factor in the game was the Rams' 30-point second quarter, which built a lead big enough that the Middies could not overcome it even as they outscored the Rams in every other quarter. Both teams had three players in double figures: Baron White (19), Je'Carious Reaves (16), and Daveon Arnold (14) for Trotwood; Chandler Shields (20), Jeremiah Landers (14), and Dae'Shaun Showes (10) for Middletown. Attempting to sweep their two-game road trip to the Buckeye State after defeating a decent Sycamore team yesterday, the Colonial Grenadiers instead ran into a brick wall (or, uh, a more potent military fighter?) as they were pummeled by the St. Xavier Bombers, 61-29. St. X (2-0) scored double digits in every quarter, while Colonial (3-2) failed to do that in even one. Jacob Wassler and Donovan Waleskowski again led the scoring for the Bombers again as they combined for 28 points, doing most of their damage from beyond the arc with 7 three-pointers made. Bomber forward John Veith collected 6 rebounds off the bench. Silas Williams led the Grenadiers with 11 points in the loss. (by @mrorcadood)
Moeller 51, Chaminade Julienne 42
In a matchup of GCL South vs. GCL Co-Ed, it was reigning SWOH runner-up Moeller that came away with a fairly tight win. Moeller's victory was in large part to strong performances in the middle two quarters, outscoring the Eagles 33-22 and building a double-digit lead entering the 4th. Alex Kazanecki was again brilliant, hitting 9 of 10 shots and posting 22 points, second only to his 34 in the Centerville loss last year, and adding 6 rebounds and multiple blocks and steals. Brady Franz and Zach Green for the Crusaders also posted career-high scoring totals, with 13 and 11 respectively. Northridge 49, Elder 29
Despite being a lower-division team, the Northridge Polar Bears knew they could be in for a special season, hence why they stacked their schedule with powerhouses like Lutheran East, Conner, and Simon Kenton. That feeling only grew as they beat up a rebuilding Elder squad on Saturday, 49-29. Brothers Deonte and Keonte Smith, the latter of whom was playing his first varsity game as a freshman, combined for 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals for Northridge. Elder was forced to turn to underclassmen against the Polar Bears, as nobody who scored a point against Moeller in the Panthers' final game of last season played in the contest (five seniors, plus Cam Williams, who is currently out with a foot injury). Cincinnati Woodward 64, Mt. Healthy 59
Junior forward Bryce Lively scored 29 points with 14 rebounds and senior forward Terrance Watson scored five straight points with under 1:15 remaining to push Woodward past Mt. Healthy, 64-59, in both teams final game at the Paul Walker Classic in Middletown.
Woodward never trailed throughout the first three quarters, but a 17-2 run by the Owls put Mt. Healthy ahead, 53-50, with six minutes remaining in the game. Mt. Healthy still led by two, 58-56, when Watson made two free throws with 1:15 left to tie the score. After the teams exchanged turnovers, Watson scored on a put-back with 13.3 seconds remaining and added a free throw to put Woodward ahead for good, 61-58.
Junior guard Julian Gaulden added 12 points with five assists for Woodward. Watson finished with seven points and three blocks off the bench.
Senior forward Maison Brown led Mt. Healthy with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Senior guard Aaron Vasser added 15 points, making 10 of 14 free throws, and junior guard Deondre Chambers had 13 points for the Owls. (by @usfldan)

Wyoming started off their 24/25 season same as they did last year with a W. Coach Rooks and the Wyoming Cowboys showcased their talents in the Ohio Valley Hoops classic at Mason Arena. Wyoming took the lead at the end of the 1st qtr (16-11) and never looked back. Darren Gray and Devin Evans both paced the Cowboys w/15pts. Billingsley Chipped in with 14pts and Wiley added 11. Canton McKinley 60, Cleveland Heights 58
Canton McKinley wins the season opener 60-58 over Cleveland Heights at the Great Lakes Classic. Jaylen Jeter led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points. Jayveion Carter had 13 points and Anthony Chavers added 11 points. The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday for the home opener against Akron East in a triple header. (by @Yappi)
