High School Roundup: Bobcats slip past state-ranked Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — Cambridge High collected a 4-3 road victory over state-ranked Martins Ferry in Buckeye 8 Conference play on Wednesday night.

Junior Jake Valentine's RBI single in the top of the seventh inning provided the winning run for the Bobcats. Valentine finished with a 2-for-4 night with a pair of base hits and three RBIs. Regan Rogers added a pair of singles for Cambridge, with Angelo Rocco picking up an RBI.

Keaton Kyser was credited with the victory on the mound for CHS, working one and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs on one hit and walking one. Caleb Campbell threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Cambridge improves to 7-2 with the road victory.
