WCAL Football 2024

This rumor takes me back to when Gill said Siders was taking roids because there was girl drama and then Siders scored 6 TD's the next game after that against Norwayne.
Didn’t hear this one, but there is something hilarious about the “accuser” having so much “rage” it cost his team the game the last time they played over in Dalton.

It’s been a good 25 yrs since I’ve even heard a whisper of a kid being on the gear. The steroid era vs. Congress and addition of Ronnie Coleman looking like a deflated football had a love child with the crypt keeper has really taken a lot of the stuff out of favor.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Heck, I'm still happy they didn't come around until my days of "what kinda fun can I have this weekend?" were long behind me.

Old vs young has always been a conflict, but it's worse with technology because kids don't like us old farts saying "I wouldn't take a picture of that." They think we're preaching, but we're really just remembering our less-than-smart hijinks.
I was in high school in the don’t ask don’t tell 70s. Only once did the shoe drop and that was on the track team my sophomore year. The whole team except me and two other guys got suspended for crossing the border from El Paso to Juarez to drink in the bars. The suspension was for one meet. I got a lot of pats on the back from teachers, but a year later I gave in to the temptation to do what every other bored boy did in desolate west Texas.

I don't have a dog in this fight, however, to address overall situations like this, cell phones, social media etc downfall of many people in this world, not just kids. I'm not promoting HS drinking, but let's be honest it goes on, always has gone on, and always will. I guess if those of us that partook in raising, he** before pictures on phones had said channels in our hands, we'd probably all make the same mistakes so easy for me to sit back and call these shots now. Two approaches on this I guess, either don't do it, or if you're gonna be dumb, be a little smarter when you are, but ergo the effects of alcohol especially on full blown testosterone filled teenage kids.......
I hear ya.......but all alcohol related incidents are not created equal IMO. Broc Dial suspended several of his top players for far less than what happened at Dalton this offseason. He pretty much gave Northwestern a win against Dalton that year, and almost gave Rittman one a week later because Dalton was so shorthanded. This year's Dalton staff handed out really light discipline for a much more serious offense. It's easy to say "everybody is doing it," but that is far from reality as the offenses increase in severity. It is all a big joke until it turns into tragedy. Teenage athletes, testosterone, alcohol, and driving cars really fast has never been/nor ever will be a good combination.

I never heard that one either. I think Gill had a personal foul for every Siders TD in that game. Gill was a tremendous player, but he was surely no Greyson Siders!

Hopefully Heatwole is on the field and dominating the game tonight! The kid is a big school talent wreaking havoc in small school games. Kinda reminds me of Ameer Cunningham from Norwayne a few years ago. Men amongst boys!

Your right about that, and to be clear I don't make light of any rumor or situation involving drinking and kids. I have seen the discipline firsthand exactly as you describe but trust me when I say that it was sorely needed as part of the culture/turnaround there (meaning Tuslaw)

I am disgusted with this thread and all its past transgressions. I never sipped alcohol in HS and definitely never evaded the law through a cornfield a couple dozen times. I’ll tell you that! I never ONCE suffered physical injury hauling “full tilt like a peterbuilt” until the ground disappeared and I discovered a creek that no one knew was there or slept where I lost consciousness. Gross.

…I will say I miss never having a hangover because I have the metabolism of a teenager. (So I hear) At my age if I smell too much booze I’ll be awaiting death in the morning. …and solid 3 days after that.

1. Call me ignorant, but I was told a few years back that most schools had a discipline matrix for all athletics. Something like 1st strike = 1 game, 2nd = 10%, etc, etc. And if they don't, in this day & age, WHY NOT? Would definitely protect the admin & coaches from accusations of unfair treatment.
2. Not to rub salt in a wound, but I've been watching football for more decades than most of you have been alive and that young fella that played for the Bobcats had one of the most memorable meltdowns I've ever seen. Can't remember the Mrs' sisters' middle names, but it'll be awhile before I forget that one.
3. Heard that Dalton DLman has been playing lights out, but the Bulldogs D still has yet to make an impact in a game of note. This is their last chance in the regular season.

Found this picture of Old Tex's in high school in Texas . . .

I think this is the case.
I 2nd that, it still exists may or may not have been tweaked over the years. Whether it's followed or not, who knows. I'll keep it anonymous, but I know of a situation where an athlete was busted puffing the cheeba, and coaches/admin at the school were fine with whatever the minimum punishment was but kids father stepped in and said the kid was done..... for the season. Kid wasn't necessarily an all-county kid at said school at the time, not the point, but coaches even contacted the family trying to see if they would change their mind. Maybe a bit much, but at the same time, I'm not judging and, in this case, at least some households are holding kids accountable. It all starts at home boys...... Ok, I'm done with the negative weed and drinking talk, almost game time for everyone!

I'll take the bait....

Dalton administration doing, well....Dalton administration type things

I usually don't blame the refs but man that was hard to watch.
Awfully quick trigger. I can’t agree or disagree with whether they were valid. But some of that laundry came out faster than one could reasonably assume a foul was committed. With that being said…Dalton has needed to clean some stuff up all year that they haven’t by week 8.

Was actually a very solid game outside of all that. Hate to see the injuries. One of those mentioned Dalton kids earned a root beer!

League standings through week 8
Hillsdale 8-0 5-0
Norwayne 7-1 5-0
Smithville 6-2 3-2
Dalton 5-3 3-2
Rittman 4-4 2-3
Waynedale 2-6 2-3
Chippewa 2-6 1-4
Northwestern 1-7 0-5

I hope the Sonego kid is going to be ok. He took a shot to the head at the goal line and looked woozy getting up but stayed in and scored on Rittmans first drive but did not return to the game. He was on the bench with one of the trainers beside him.
