Walsh Jesuit vs. Archbishop Hoban

I cannot believe Spectrum has their head up their posterior so far they have brown ring around thecollar. They are choosing to air Norteast Ohio's "Game of the Week" as.......
VASJ at Hartley.
Huh?
I mean those are fine teams, but this is a H2H match up of two of best D2 teams - across any of the 4 regions. Tickets will be hard to get.

Hartley is a Central Ohio team, always a Spectrum draw over other Ohio regions. jmo

Spectrum has always been odd in their selection for the game of the week.

FWIW Drew Pasteur has these teams as the #2 and #7 in the state.

He also says Hoban wins by 18.

Seems like Hoban takes it easy on Walsh in the regular season. Remember 2021? Really close regular season game. Walsh nearly won. Then Hoban boat raced them in the playoffs.

That record played the same way with StVM last year, and I thought it was an attempt to salvage the rivalry game.

Shouldn’t even be a Thursday night championship game at all whatsoever.
Just another example of how the OHSAA doesn't give a d*** about the student-athletes.... All they care about is the money.... The two teams playing have one less day to prepare for the game and one less day to get fully healthy from a semi-final game... Ridiculous!!!!!!

I agree 💯 IMO
D7 Thursday
D6 Friday morning
D5 Afternoon
D2 Friday night
D4 Saturday morning
D3 Saturday afternoon
D1 Saturday night..
In my opinion that's how the state championship game should go.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding something.... You agree 100% with OBI-WON's post about not having a Thursday night championship game at all whatsoever but then you appear to have the D7 championship game on Thursday night.... Am I missing something?

Also, there is really no valid reason not to have one of the games on Sunday...

Smoove wants to chime in on this. Walsh is GOOD. Hoban is GOOD. Both is very GOOD. Smoove needs to break dow nthe film this week of each teams' previous games and then will reappear when Smoove is ready to reveal Smoove's prediction. Gonna be a real crib-burner. Smoove will get back at all y'all soon 'nuf, til then, Keep on Keepin' on..... just like Smoove do!

Yes I" agree with his post but we know OHSAA is not gonna do that .... That's why I made one I think could work

Once again, the herd has grabbed a thread and sent it off on a tangent totally unrelated to the OP.

Now returning to your regularly scheduled thread.

I think Dex is spot on. There a just a handful of D2 teams that can give Hoban a competitive game. Fortunately, I place the Warriors in that class. Walsh will have to completely control what they can control (team discipline, no pre-snap or silly penalties.) If they are successful doing that, then they give themselves a fighting chance.

Hoban has the big three components. Talent, Experience, and depth. That is usually enough to win at the high school level. But that is why the games are played on the field and not in internet threads. Walsh will have to play a clean, damn near perfect game to come out on top.

My brother was fortunate enough to get tickets for this in season certain playoff matchup. Looking forward to it.

Walsh and Riverside are currently ranked 4th and 5th so I'd hope they could be competitive. But Hoban is Hoban and will be a feat for anyone. They will have to play extremely well, few penalties, and win the to battle. Will be interesting.
Exactly. Control the ball, at least break even at the LOS, eat up clock, get a couple of turnovers and hope to catch a couple of breaks. A tall task.

Honestly it is as mentally exhausting as physically. You have to be on point, every play. They always have the talent advantage either by a little or alot.

Bingo. Hoban has the athletes to make this a runaway. If Walsh isn't successful playing Warrior football, they will get boat raced.

But I am not selling Walsh short. The Warriors big back field threat went out of the SVSM game last week, and was seen on crutches in the second half. Don't know how severe the injury was. or if he was being held out as a precaution in a blowout win.

We'll see Friday.
