Walsh Jesuit vs. Archbishop Hoban

The Warriors travel to Hoban to face the Knights this Friday. The Warriors come in at 6-0 off of a convincing win over SVSM. Hoban is 5-0 coming off of an off week after an easy win over Ignatius. Hoban is averaging 39 ppg while surrendering 4.8, while the Warriors average 46.5 ppg while surrendering 15.8 ppg.

Walsh as been as solid as anyone against the Knights in the last couple of years, losing by 12 last year and by 1 in OT in 2021. Walsh is a very good D2 team but I think Hoban is on another level. I anticipate a hard fought game with Hoban pulling away late, something like 31-21.

It all depends on whether Walsh can run the ball like they need to have enough success on offense, Hoban's front 7 is one of the most physical Tyrrell's had there. Hoban also needs to get healthy on the oline, I noticed the starting C didn't play vs Iggy, and he's the lynchpin of that line and offense in general. Not sure where Greer is on his process to return, he should be close.

Walsh definitely has made their running game an emphasis this season.
The Warriors rush for just under 288 yards per game on 7.5 yards per carry with 26 rushing TDs.
Against St V they rushed for 403 yards on 53 carries (7.6 ypc) and 5 TDs.
The QB play hasn't been bad with a 67% completion percentage with 11 TD to only 2 INT.

None of this matters against a team like Hoban, but just wanted to give some stats for those who are unfamiliar with Walsh.

A real good chance these two will see each other again. Does that influence the way the coaches approach this game? For seeding purposes, Hoban most likely needs this game, as they still have Glenville and St. Ed's. Walsh is the heavy favorite in their last three games.

Kind of sucks for Walsh that Hoban is having this generational run at the moment.

Any other year, WJ would be duking it out in the Playoffs and have a legit shot.

Unfortunately, everything feels like a warm up for the inevitable: A Hoban SC.

Nothing against Massillon or Avon or the Cincy teams. I just don't think Hoban is beatable.

Walsh better worry about riverside.

Disagree. Any team can be beat. Whether they will be is a different question entirely.

BTW, there are two ls in Massillon. :p
I have to agree. I'm not convinced that Hoban is going to win it all this year. They could win it, but they will have their hands full and have to truly earn it. (Avon, Massillon, Cinn area) - all will have a serious say in things. Right now would anyone take Hoban or the field? I know for me, I would take the field. (but it's just an opinion- only time will tell). But that final 4 for D2 should be some great playoff football.

Shoutout to Hoban grad Chip Trayanum for scoring on 4th & goal in South Bend tonight. Buckeyes' fans from HS fan bases all over this site breathed a huge sigh of relief.
I wish there was a “love” button on here bcuz just the like doesn’t do it lol. I’m glad we got him cuz Henderson would have went down on first contact at the 1 lol

D2 championship should be the Friday night game instead of on Thursday like the last few years

If that is true, I like that a lot better. Unless they move the D1 to Thursday or unless they move the D1 to Saturday. And I find it hard to believe that they would put the D1 and D2 championship games both on Friday.

Walsh have a chance they have 1 of nordonia great 11 grade players. If none left that only team that could beat hoban.they lost 5.

The Walsh Jesuit Warriors have a chance of prevailing over the Hoban Knights as the Warrior team has a talented young junior from the Nordonia school district. Were it not for 5 Nordonia district players playing for other districts or teams, Nordonia could possibly beat Hoban.

Hoban wins. Too powerful in the trenches.
