University of Florida Fires All DIE Employees

When did someone start using the exact phrase "diversity, equity, and inclusion" for the first time? That's a good question. Lewis Griggs, who is credited with the phrase "valuing diversity" when he started his business in 1982, might a viable candidate. But whoever it was should copyright and trademark that puppy, might be worth a few bucks! :geek:

During my years as a diversity specialist/manager up to my retirement in 2016, I don't recall hearing or seeing that phrase used in my company. It was all "EEO, AA, and diversity" where I worked. First time I noticed it in public, maybe in the last 10 ears. But it is surprising how many similar terms have been around much longer, just under the radar or in dusty academia. I just read where "micro-agression" was first termed in 1970. Right up there with "future shock" (the whippersnappers may not remember that one).

Interestingly, Lewis Griggs is a motivational coach and trainer somewhat similar to Tony Robbins, and seems to be very successful selling his courses to large companies as well as individuals who can afford it Seems to run in various touchy-feely circles that "raise consciousness. I don't doubt he's developed a few trendy buzzwords and phrase since then, and has probably influenced many corporate types.
CRT was founded in 1989 and is defined by it's founders as the following:

The work of progressive legal scholars of color who are attempting to develop a jurisprudence that accounts for the role of racism in American law and that work toward the elimination of racism as part of a larger goal of eliminating all forms of subordination.
The body of work by Critical Race Theory scholars Derrick Bell, Richard Delgado, and Kimberlé Crenshaw addresses the liberal notion of color blindness and argues that ignoring racial difference maintains and perpetuates the “status quo with all of its deeply institutionalized injustices to racial minorities” and insists that “dismissing the importance of race is a way to guarantee that institutionalized and systematic racism continues and even prospers”

As we can see, CRT has nothing to do with DEI. Duh.

Think you meant to respond to someone else. My post had nothing do with conflating CRT.

Nope. Given your description and timeline of DEI, my post was simply to show that CRT has nothing to do with it.
And again, that bit of minutae you contributed was totally irrelevant to my post, which had nothing to do with CRT. Oh well, at least you showed up. :)

And again, I don't care. Live with it. Whining about it is silly.

Not at all. I'm happy you made an effort to contribute to a serious discussion, even if it was wasted. You tried, that was the important thing. :)

LOL. It came out of the civil rights act of 1964 you. Read the definition of it and then tell me it did not. DEI programs started in the late 1960's.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discriminatory race-based hiring of employees in the workplace. DEI, thanks to CRT, which maintains that all economic, social, and educational outcomes are based on the white race oppressing all other races, has 100% promoted and enacted race-based hiring of employees based, not on merit or qualifications, but solely on race with DEI.

The CRA of 1964, outlawed segregation in education and the workplace. DEI, thanks to CRT, promotes and enacts segregated black-only dorms and black-only work spaces and college black-only safe spaces. DEI and CRT promote and enact race-based admissions in colleges. However, just last year, the US Supreme Court ruled that race-based college admissions are unconstitutional and violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment and also held that Harvard College’s admissions system does not comply with the principles of the equal protection clause embodied in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. As a recipient of federal funds, Harvard is required to follow the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination “on the basis of race, color, and national origin” in programs receiving federal financial assistance. Harvard’s race-based admissions was violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

So DEI promotes, enacts, and advances violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Seems more like liberals simply took the principles of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and morphed them with Critical Race Theory to create DEI and the reverse racism that it’s based upon.
