Would like to know your opinions as to who the top northeast ohio middle school wrestlers are and maybe list some of their accomplishments and the high school they will be at.

Austin Assad (8th Grade) from Northfield, Wrestles for Chanel's youth program, multiple grade school state champ and 3rd last year at JH States, losing to Kolodzik, HS choice still up in the air.

hopefully, CVCA, he will get to compete in the Ironman.

Haha no, highly doubtful, hopefully Chanel. He has a decent shot at becoming a 4x State Champ if he can avoid Kolodzik (Depending where he goes).

Wouldnt he go to Chanel with his brother(Soph)?

As far as other NEO wrestlers...how bout the Stagg brothers(BTW/Elyria)
Who else is out there?
I know more about the Central/SW.

Austin Assad,Staggs brothers , DB David Brian Whisler, Tony Decesar, Josh Hiel, Nicky Kiussus, Jarret Lester, Antwon Pugh, Garret Hall, corey Simpson, tanyon Jarrel, jesse Brown, Alex Mackell, Sonny Lucas,Austin Hiels, Joey Tromba. All very good wrestlers. Most are either state champs or placers. Some placed at either Super 32, Tulsa or other Nationals like Empire Nats. Some have not placed at any of the above mentioned tournaments but are bonafied studs that I think will show us something this year. I have missed a few names I'm sure but these are who came to mind. I'm not going to list out all there accomplishments. NE Ohio is tuff , but not as tuff as past years. IMO

I see the NW and South kicking it up a notch.
I don't like to push kids names on forums, so if any parents want me to remove any names just give me a call. You all have my #.

Chanel has a good shot at getting Assad, Kaminski, Bentley an a for sure in Deceasre from what I hear

Kasper 134 lbs and Beaire @ 128 and Faust @ around the 172 lbs area from Lexington Middle School. Palser @ 152 and Campbell @ around 100 lbs from Mansfield Middle school. All state qualifiers and placers and believe all five of these boys have placed at the national level as well in various tourneys around the country. I would be very surprised if Palser from Mansfield Middle School even gets scored on this season.

NE O-H-I-O !

We could list Ohio wrestlers all day long but the thread said NE Ohio. Logistics. Where is the line? Be specific.
NE Ohio is North of Akron, to Cleveland to Elyria. JMO

Warrior Dad, I would think that 6th grade still counts. Only because they will wrestle at Tournaments against eachother, and all 3 are very good wrestlers. Add, Noah Baughman, Brandon Baughman and Joey Baughman to the list.
I do think the 6th graders listed can compete with 7th and 8th grade elite wrestlers no problem.

Lets not forget about Garret Carter (8th) nordonia, Zac Carson (8th) cvca, Zak Dobbens-8th cvca, Tristan Brady (7th) Southeast, Hunter Mcpeak (7th) Southeast, Brett bailey (7th) Southeast, Tre campbell (7th) mansfield, Kaden Russell (6th) AWC, Kyle Ice (6th AWC), jared campbell (6th westshore)James Handwerk 6th westshore, Darrin Gilkerson (7th) wadsworth, Travis pigdeon (8th) Westbranch, Brogan Lovejoy (8th) Ravenna, John Chell (8th) AWC, Matthew Pauvlik (7th),Hunter Deshon-7th North canton,Jake Newhouse-8th Massillon, Sean Palacios (7th) Avon Lake,Nick Steed-8th Canton, I could go on forever but those are just a few names to watch and don't be surprised if Bentley goes to St Vincent since I have seen him Pugh,Simpson, Lester, Deshson and Chell all wrestling for AWC in recent tournaments. What a room!!! ANTHONY GARY is building something special there. They also got Russell this year he left walsh for AWC.

Are you sure you would be very surprised:laugh:

Twist and fall,
You are spot on! I am not familar with some of the wrestlers u mention but most are very good. Stretching the NE boundries but oh well. I know Steer has really picked it up a few levels!

Who on these lists are actually wrestling for their Jr. High? I would think most r wrestling club.

These are our current jr. high wrestlers training and competing with the Akron Wrestling Club this year that should be very competitive. A few of these guys will compete with their respective schools and then back with us after their school season is over. These kids have been working really hard to prepare for the season and they should be ones to watch this year.

Hunter Deshon 7th
Louis Demarco 8th
Antwon Pugh 6th
Jaret Lester 6th
John Chell 8th
Mitch Hannan 8th
LJ Bentley 8th
Cory Simpson 7th
Nathon Allen 8th
Kaden Russell 6th
Dylan Ramey 7th
Kyle Ice 6th
Tristan Brady 7th
Garrett Carter 7th
Hunter McPeak 7th
Dominic Sciarretti 7th
Logan Brant 8th
Shawn Sovocool 8th

WOW nice group there !
Most of them I am very use to seeing. Some new names but all in all a very strong team.

AWC2 you have a PM.

Matt DeGroff, CVCA, and Noah Havener, CVCA, and Ricky Coleman, Crestwood, all worthy of mention, all very tough 8th grade wrestler's.

That is an understatement !

The more names that are listed the better I feel about where NE Ohio is. I seem to get caught in the little guy group and forget about the big guys.

Major Improvement

You can't go without mentioning David-Brian Whisler in this thread. If he is not a state champ this year I will be surprised!

I will bite:laugh: Sure you do Austin and Mathew Kolodsick will be state champs again this year and also happen to be the only two kids in the state nationally ranked .anyone from 152 to 172 gets pinned on any given day, care to wager
Techfal looking at all your posts its easy to figure out why you take your shots at us and pretty much who you are sorry your little clan has never had the success of some of the others around town particularly MINE ,ha ha you kill me this is a jr high thread and those you pull for are long gone and never lived up to any of your jr high hype while others in your area back up what is said and then some ,relax its all good and fun after all its only jr high sports right:laugh:

Nick Steed will be a state champion someday if he continues to work hard, and keep a good attitude.

I had the opportunity to Coach this young man at Stuebenville, not only is he a very good wrestler, but also a great kid! You are spot on with your prediction. I wish him well this season, and I plan on attending the JHS Tournament expecting to see him wrestling in the finals. (Youngstown Ohio this year).
