The Roman Catholic bishops of the United States, flouting a warning from the Vatican, have overwhelmingly voted to draft a statement on the sacrament of the Eucharist, advancing a political push by conservative bishops to deny President Biden communion because of his support of abortion rights.

The decision, made public on Friday afternoon, is aimed at the nation’s second Catholic president, the most religiously observant commander in chief since Jimmy Carter, and exposes bitter divisions in American Catholicism. It capped three days of contentious debate at a virtual June meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The measure was approved by a vote of 73 percent in favor and 24 percent opposed.

It’s the right thing to do. If you have a Doctrine you must abide by it. Pelosi should be next. There are many practicing Catholics, I’d guess 25% who should be included but there is obviously no way to know who they are unless they are vocal.

Rep. Ted Lieu went on a rant this weekend against the Catholic Church calling U.S. bishops "hypocrites" and "nakedly partisan" for seeking to update Communion guidance that could rebuke politicians like President Biden and Speaker Nancy Pelosi for supporting abortion policies.

The Catholic California Democrat called out several Republicans, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Attorney General William Barr, for seemingly violating the beliefs of the Catholic Church, but not being threatened with Communion denial like pro-choice Democrats. Lieu said such hypocrisy could doom church membership.

Going back a few years, the most memorable service that I went to (it is a different Christian faith), the minister told the story of a regular attendee that came up to him after a service a few years back. The man was excited and thanked the minister for a great sermon and told him that he agreed with everything that the minister had said that day. Everything from the very first story right up to the last thing. Everything was just right. The minister was happy that one of his members was so excited but was also a little disappointed. He had a conversation with the member and said it was great that he agreed with everything but that is not the way it is supposed to be. Basically, the member is supposed to agree with everything being taught in Church every Sunday. It is the minister's job to teach the gospel and the congregants duty to try and learn what he is teaching them.

Short story, the people are going to church to learn, not to give their opinions. If you disagree with your Church this much, it probably isn't the right Church for you.

To me, it seems hypocritical for these politicians to defy their church so consistently but then claim to be members in good standing.

Maybe he and Hunter want to by a Scottish Golf Course. Trump got his (laundered) money from Putin's oligarchs...so maybe Joe is thinking about a retirement plan.

The real answer: He wants to stabilize europe and keep our relationships with our allies strong while tying Russias tiny economy to the EU content. Russia is ultimately a kleptocracy run like a russian mob organization....we can't change that but we don't have to replicate it or join the mob like trump did in Hellsinki. We now have adults in charge. Great news for America.
