He wore his helmet for the final time nearly 22 years ago.
Nevertheless, Mike Hay hasn’t stayed too far away from the gridiron or his alma mater.
Nowadays, the 1998 Tallmadge graduate is living his dream. Hay is the head coach of the Tallmadge football team after spending several years as a loyal assistant.
It’s safe to say no one has pinched him yet.
“Every day I’m here, it’s an awesome feeling,” Hay said. “I get to guide these same young men who I once was not that long ago. At least it doesn’t seem that long ago.”
