Final Comments:
The number one key offensively always starts with the offensive line. I believe this will be a strength for us similar to last year but lacking the depth. Number two will be can we replace Sexton’s production with a combination of Mayzes running the ball and McArthur stepping in at running back. Finally, how do you replace receivers like Lamb, Carter and Offenburg? I am not sure you can with their experience but we will have a host of young receivers gaining experience every week. Look for Selmon to carry the load early in the season and LePla and Girlie to emerge as the season progresses.

Coaching and learning are the keys to our defense. Returning two starters on defense will be a challenge.

Drew Young will have his work cut out for him captaining our defense but as an Honorable Mention All State Middle Linebacker he is up for the challenge. Pressuring quarterbacks and being excellent tacklers will be our focus this year on defense.

As returning Cardinal Champions we look to contend again. We have the speed, size and ability but the biggest challenge will be our health without the depth and experience we had last season. Having to play Findlay, Whitmer, and Perrysburg back to back to back weeks prior to going into league play is a momentous challenge. We also have a challenging travel schedule having to travel to Findlay, Napoleon, Bowling Green and Whitmer. I look for the Cardinal Division to be a challenge; Clay brings back a great offensive combination of Heintschel and Byers, Ross always has a great blend of speed at skilled positions and big guys up front, Napoleon is always fun to battle with and we will see what BG can do under new leadership.
