Summit County Basketball 2021-2022

Just wanted to congratulate St Vincent St Mary again on their state championship in basketball
Also wanted to summarize how Summit County has done so far this school year.

D2 Boys Basketball-St Vincent St Mary 1st
D2 Football- Hoban 2nd
D1 Boys Golf- Hoban 2nd
D1 Girls Soccer- Walsh 2nd
D2 Boys CC- Woodridge 2nd
D2 Football- Green Final 4

Also congratulations to Firestone's Jonny Marshall for his state championship in the D1 100 Backstroke and Bryce Skinner of St Vincent St Mary for his state championship in D2 Wrestling 126 pounds.

Another amazing fact about Summit County is that 25 of the 27 schools have won at least 1 OHSAA state championship. The only schools that haven't won any are Kenmore/Garfield and Our Lady of the Elms. I'm not including Western Reserve Academy, who isn't part of the OHSAA.
Even now defunct Central, West and South high schools have won titles.

Are there any Summit County schools that have a realistic shot to win a title this Spring?

Hoban is the defending champ in D2 baseball and returns a large portion of their team from last year.
Also Walsh is preseason #1 in the state in baseball and several national polls have the Warriors ranked in the top 25.

Now that the school year is over I wanted to update how the Summit County schools did in 2021-22.

D2 Boys Basketball-St Vincent St Mary 1st
D2 Football- Hoban 2nd
D2 Baseball- Hoban 2nd
D1 Boys Golf- Hoban 2nd
D1 Girls Soccer- Walsh 2nd
D2 Girls Track- Buchtel 2nd
D2 Boys CC- Woodridge 2nd

The county had some outstanding performances in track. St Vincent St Mary's Kya Epps won State Championships in the Girls D2 100 and 200, setting D2 records in both events. Buchtel's DaMya Barker won Girls D2 100 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles. Norton sophomore Morgan Hallett won State titles in Girls D2 Shot Put and Discus. Josiah Cox from Manchester also won 2 State Championships in the D2 Shot Put and Discus. Finally, Stow's 4x200 team of Brian Turner, Bryce Turner, Dustin Horner, and Xavier Preston were State Champs in D1. That's a total of 9 titles for Summit County in track.
Also congratulations to Firestone's Jonny Marshall for his state championship in the D1 100 Backstroke and Bryce Skinner of St Vincent St Mary for his state championship in D2 Wrestling 126 pounds.

One year does not mean it worked, they won't sniff another one for many years unless he really gets after the talent.
Probably not. State titles are hard to come by. Success breeds success though. Football, Golf, Baseball and now Basketball recently bodes well for Hoban supporters.
