Region 28 Playoffs

Loramie isn't the first team to have their volleyball team play in the finals the same time as a football playoff game. What I and others are saying is that they should have planned the day better for the boys on the football team. Spending the entire day traveling isn't a recipe for success
that alongside overlooking CCP is what did it in for FL. Unfortunate for them I suppose

There's other parts of life than just football guys. I hate volleyball, never considered going to the game but I'm glad the coaches didn't decide to be dictators and take a moment away from the kids. Have fun with Marion.

Just glad this is something Ansonia doesn't have to worry about. Heck complaining about an hour and a half drive to Lima is already wild enough. Couldn't imagine having to balance working around a state tournament game along with it.

It is 100% possible to do both in a better way than FL did it on Saturday.

The football team could have gone to the volleyball game together, on a bus, watched their volleyball team win it all, then head south from there and get ready to play football. I can't fathom where you think it's BETTER that the kids drove to Dayton, back to FL, then got on a bus to ride back down the exact same way they just came from.

It was Friday at 11:00 AM, not Saturday. What exactly were they supposed to do for the next several hours in Dayton? Why shouldn't they get to go home and see the parade around town as part of the celebration? I never said anything was better, I said the kids shouldn't be punished from a moment with their friends because they chose to play football. THESE ARE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. It's not like they were getting ready to play the AFC Championship or something.

Guys, I like football. I like high school football. A lot. That's why I'm communicating on a high school football forum. I just can't fathom a universe why you want to deprive a kid a moment they should get to have because they had the audacity to join the football team. At the end of the day, it's not THAT serious.

It would have been nice to have the game moved to Saturday as Tiffin Calvert (opponent in the volleyball game) was able to but for whatever reason that didn't happen.

They could do ANYTHING else in Dayton. Relax, work out, walk around, visit a museum. Anything but spend an extra three hours sitting in a vehicle. Have the Welcome Home parade and celebration after the football team gets back. It's been done before.

Exactly I vividly remember 2004 the volleyball team won earlier in the day, admittedly not as early as 11AM like FL, but the team and everyone left the Nutter Center and went to I believe Piqua for the Regional Finals. Once the football game was over basically the whole town travelled back to SH together. Once back they had the welcome home for Volleyball and the celebration was the next morning I believe.

I get both sides of the argument, but tend to agree that it could have probably been handled better. If I were the coach at minimum we would have been travelling together.

Same for NB in 2019

Your right, a parade around town with firetrucks, sirens, screaming people, etc. would be great at midnight. My little kids would be pumped! Let's force the volleyball team to sit around and wait all day for the celebration they earned.

You MAC folks just are a lot better at these things, we never thought of all these good ideas! We're not going to agree. It's not why we lost Friday, we turned the ball over six times and couldn't score in the redzone. That's why we lost. Would I have liked to win? Sure. Would the players not going back and forth all day have helped? Maybe.

I get your perspective, understand your perspective. I just have a different one. It's not worth yelling back and forth on the internet. This thread is about the Region 28 playoffs. I'd say both games are most likely running clocks before the game everyone has just been patiently awaiting next week.

It was pointed out earlier that the kids looked sluggish. Just saying that maybe next time (hopefully there is a next time) you might want to do things differently to give both groups of kids the opportunity to do great things. Or don't. I don't care. Maybe that really is the difference in MAC culture.

In 2019, NB went to Dayton to watch their volleyball team win a State Championship. From there they went to New Miami where the football team won it's 1st Playoff game in 15 years. We celebrated with the volleyball team at midnight. The next year, NB won a State Championship in football, including a victory at Marion Local - the last time Marion Local lost a football game.

All of this goes to -what my main point for still rambling about this - is to give every team in the school the opportunity to go do good things so they can build and turn them into great things. Or don't. I don't care.

Also - When Ft Loramie wins a Statey in football, and if they happen to get the late game on a Saturday evening, by the time they do the media stuff and load the busses and make the trip back, your parade will be at midnight or later. And you'll all be there loving every minute of it regardless of the time on the clock.

Those kids on that 2019 NB team will be telling their great grandkids about how they were there when Marion Local lost a game.

Changing direction to actually talk about this Friday's games... We saw Ansonia play with Marion for a half last year (7-0 at the break) before Marion pulled away easily in the 2nd half. I'm sure everyone sees Marion winning to extend the streak. The question is... will Ansonia be able to sustain any sort of drives to eat time off the clock like they did in the first half last year? Will Ansonia be able to prevent it from being running clock? Or will Marion be able to shut the Ansonia run game down from the start this time and have it at a running clock by halftime? I'm very interested to see. Yes, we all know the likely result of this game. But we know Ansonia will be conditioned, well coached, and won't quit. Curious how close they will be able to keep it. There's only so much you can do against Marion, but Coach Hall teams always come ready to play.

As for Minster and CCP - really don't know much about CCP. I know they play a weak schedule, but coming off a nice win over Loramie. Again, I think we all know what the result of this one will be, but will CCP be able to keep it at all close?

Is Ansonia better than last year? I know they were very good last year. Obviously Marion is even better than last years team which is why I ask.

CCP won't be able to keep it close against Minster.

Check Drew's predictions this vs last and it will give a reasonable clue. I say they are no where as good, and their conference as a whole is down.

I do not expect more than one decent drive for Ansonia . I have 35-0 halftime, 48-0 game.

Minster vs Marion, no surprises, yet.

Tough to say. If you had asked me at the beginning of the year if Ansonia was better than last year, I'd have said definitely not. But the second half of the year, the Tigers have played so much better. I'd say pretty even to last year at the current moment? Take this with a grain of salt, of course, but Calpreps projects last year's Ansonia team would beat this year's team 30-28, so they see them as pretty close as well. I know this year's Marion team is even better than last year as you said.

This Ansonia team is quicker and less prone to going to one guy. I think they overworked Weiss last year and ultimately led to him basically being dead by the MSML game. Not to mention their number 2 Stammen tore his ACL prior to Hank and MSML.

Legs should definitely be more fresh from these guys although obviously not coming close to the production of Weiss.

I’d argue that their secondary is a lot lot better than a year ago. With that being said, MSML turned it over 2 times I believe in the 1st half. It would take a perfectly executed gameplan from Ansonia and 3 turnovers at least for the Tigers to bring it home.

They do have the mentality of they have to lose sometime, why not us. It might not matter but these kids will play their butts off and Coach Hall makes sure of that.
