Rams get 3 -1st rd & 1 -2nd rd for the 2nd pick in the 2012 draft

I don't think Blackmon is worth that.

Plus, they have to believe the Browns would take Blackmon. I'm not sold on the Browns coveting Blackmon, but the Rams would obviously have a better feel for who the Browns would pick. If you ever watch those war-room sessions, every team has the first round of the draft nailed almost 100% as to who is going to pick which player. There are very few secrets. As amazing is that is, it's even more amazing how many of those first rounders bust.

You also could see what offers from other teams for that pick. The Rams need the tackle or the wide receiver. If the Rams want one make them pay with the 6th and another pick. Yes you need a QB but not by mortgaging the future.

I don't think McCoy will be the QB but if for some odd reason he is, the Browns likely go 5-11, maybe 6-10. This will have them likely in the 8-10 range in the draft.

You think the Skins paid a hefty price? Prepare to grab your ankles and you won't be getting dinner before or a kiss after. Not to mention the team picking #1 in the draft could need a QB too. This was their "window" to get a QB of the future. Prepare for another 3-5+ years of misery.

I'm not sure that RG3 is the franchise QB that the Skins clearly think he is, but I've also said...many, many times...that if the Browns think RG3 is the QB that can get them to the Super Bowl, they need to do what it takes to get him. I never imagined the price would be so high, though, but it appears the Browns were damn near willing to pay it That tells me they don't believe in Colt, and they do believe that RG3 will be a franchise QB.

At least we know they aren't sold on Colt. That tells me they are not brain-dead. As I've said, I don't trust Holmgren...but I do trust Heckert. Heckert wasn't going to draft McCoy, but The Walrus stepped in and over-ruled and over-reached. I doubt he is stupid enough to do it again, so Heckert's the man. Holmgren needs to sit his big in his big chair and let Heckert build him a winner.

Maybe Heckert will look for a trade with an even more putrid team than the Browns, and swing a deal to aquire their 2013 #1...and put the Browns in prime position for Barkley (or whomever) next April? I would be okay with that. At this point, the Browns need to land that QB to even compete in this division.

If he comes anything close to Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, or betters Andy Dalton it's worth it, QB is that important in the modern NFL, and probably worth the gamble. Yes it's a risk, but at least with RGIII you know it won't be for a lack of effort.

The Rams need more than just Kalil or Blackmon. They have one of the worst secondaries in the league. The extra 2nd round pick will come in handy. Floyd will still be available if Blackmon is gone.

So you get a big possession receiver for a deep ball guy?

I'm sure they are FAR from done once they get V-Jax. That's why, unfortunately, RG3 will have a chance at success faster in DC. Snyder may not have draft picks but he will surround him with FA receivers.

The HAMMER just got dropped by Goodell. If I'm reading this right, the Cowboys and Redskins just got punished for cash dumping? Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space while the Skins lose $36 million over the next two years per Schefter? Skins are screwed.

Good luck surrounding RG3 with those weapons...

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Redskins will lose $36 million in cap space for frontloading contracts during the uncapped year. Cowboys lose $10 million. Can be spread over 2 years.

I'm sure this is why the 'Skins made the deal. No $s for a FA QB and then they hope they get the pieces in lower rounds. One issue they could develop in the next coupl years is lack of depth on the OL, need to protect that QB.

The trade does make a little more sense now. Now they only have to pay 1 first rounder over the next 3 years instead of 3.

If the Rams wants Blackmon so much, the Browns should put it out there that they are taking him. Get one of the Rams 2 2nd rounders they have to move down 2 spots.
This is the best thing that could happen to the Browns.

The Redskins do have the option to spread out their $36 million penalty over the next two seasons, BTW. So, there is some room for them to finagle the numbers this year, and take the brunt of the penalty next year.
