Rams get 3 -1st rd & 1 -2nd rd for the 2nd pick in the 2012 draft

I will be pissed if the Browns draft Richardson

you must love watching losing teams then

Richardson, RGIII and Kalil are the only guys who would step in and help the browns right away

Claiborne doesnt help them besides pick even higher next year, 4 is 10-15 picks too high for Tannehill, Blackmon was too scared of how slow he is to run at the combine

The thing that makes me discouraged about this, from a Browns fan perspective, is that, once again, the Browns front office is playing scared. Ever since this team came back in 1999 the front office has always wanted to be "careful and safe" with its picks and signings, and look how that has worked out: one playoff appearance in 12 seasons. Cleveland finally has a chance to get a franchise quarterback in RGIII, with the most ammo to give, and they once again play it "careful and safe" and don't seal the deal. If the Browns were making smart, successful choices with their picks and signings, doing things the slow and careful way would be fine. However, they've missed more than they've hit doing things that way, and they finally get a chance to do things differently for once and they come up short once again.

I like RGIII a lot. However, the Redskins gave up way too much. The value of what they gave up would mean RGIII would have to be a HOF. This is way bigger than when the Saints traded their entire draft in '99 for Ricky Williams.

It was a steep price to give up. However, the Browns are a team that needs to bring some excitement to the organization as well as needing a franchise QB. Griffin brings both to the table. If you're Cleveland, why not go all in for once and see how it works out? If you fail, you can't get much worse than what the franchise has been since '99.

It could get much worse. You could destroy your future for the next 5+ years.

Washington over spent like Snyder always does. The only difference this time is they didn't over spend for a washed up part. Glad Cleveland's offer was shot down.

Believe me, I'm depressed as Hell about this but the Browns did offer three 1st's. That says to me that they have absolutely NO confidence in McCoy as the starter, which I'm happy to hear.

I thought RG3 would've brought a nice dynamic to Cleveland and would've given the division opponents something to fear but the price was a bit too steep.

Here is a quote from an ESPN blog entry about the trade:

"The price is toe-curlingly high, and a month or so ago I thought three first-rounders would have been too much. But I think the Redskins had to do it. Look around the league. Teams that get quarterback right are set for a decade. They are playoff teams, almost guaranteed, every single year. They have far fewer worries at draft time, and their offseasons are far less stressful and scrutinized. Teams that miss on quarterback are miserable, lost and confused, perpetually reaching for ill-fitting solutions and facing the same insurmountable problems year in and year out."

That quote pretty much sums up today's NFL. You need that QB, or you better have a completely stacked team at nearly every other position to compete for a championship. It's reached the point, due mainly to the rule changes, that the price of getting that franchise QB is the draft is ridiculously high...but it is worth the price IF you feel the QB you're drafting is truly the QB who can make you a playoff contender for the next decade.

The Browns will get a shot at this again next year, at Matt Barkley, among others, because Colt McCoy will all but ensure the Browns are drafting very high again in 2013.

I don't like to take a running back that high, but I wouldn't exactly be pissed to have Trent Richardson on my team.

Yeah, it's a weird situation, because Richardson would immediately improve the team, but the odds are that he will have a relatively short career...and he would keep the Browns competitive enough in those years to where they would likely be a wild card-level contender, but could never break out of it because they would never draft high enough to get the franchise QB they need to reach true contender status.

One thing you can never have too many of, though, are pass rushing DE's for the 4-3 defense. I'd love to see a few of them added to Sheard to give the Browns a Giants-esque d-line rotation, as they continue the quest for a franchise QB.

Redskins gave up way too much for RG3. I am not sold on him at all so I am glad the Browns didn't do a stupid trade like this.

I don't think McCoy will be the QB but if for some odd reason he is, the Browns likely go 5-11, maybe 6-10. This will have them likely in the 8-10 range in the draft.

You think the Skins paid a hefty price? Prepare to grab your ankles and you won't be getting dinner before or a kiss after. Not to mention the team picking #1 in the draft could need a QB too. This was their "window" to get a QB of the future. Prepare for another 3-5+ years of misery.

You can't give up 4 first round picks because that second is almost a first. Not to mention you are giving up 3 first rounders, these are three starters. 3-4 guys that can step in and play.

If the Rams wants Blackmon so much, the Browns should put it out there that they are taking him. Get one of the Rams 2 2nd rounders they have to move down 2 spots.
