Price Hill Candidate Night

I don't know. If she had a strong leader as a mentor when she took office I think maybe it could have made a difference. The problem in city hall right now is that it is every person for themselves and unfortunately several took the greedy path.
Dennard was definitely mentored by Sittenfeld. I must say she in my opinion had to be on the super greedy path. I know she blamed some other matters. What really baffles me is person she chose to “hit up” for the money.

You do know that Pureval is being backed by a Socialist group founded by Bernie Sanders? I apologize for forgetting the exact name of this particular group but almost everything these types of Groups “do” is crooked/corrupt. Also, I would consider any Defund the Police Candidate/Supporter as somewhat shady, corrupt, crooked whatever you want to call it.
Feel free to consider it shady but just because you disagree with something that doesn't make it corrupt.

It looks like Elder grad and Price Hill resident Jeff Cramerding has been elected to city council.
Looks that way. Pureval and Every Democrat that the Party endorsed I think Won.
Mojo what’s your take on Cramerding? You seem pretty involved in the Price Hill community.

My wife and I looked at many sights for information about each of the candidates. The league for women voters site was eye opening. Go read what all of the candidates for mayor, city council and school board believe in. I will be very surprised if the whole city doesn't turn into a HELL-hole. I believe that there will be "green" flight ($$$$$$$$$$.$$). People who can leave, will leave. The vast majority of the candidates are far left, "defund the police", social justice "warriors."

This is one of the dumbest posts I have ever see on this board. Am I happy with the new mayor and council? No. My candidate for mayor lost and only two of my council candidates won. So, what? I will continue being involved and hold their feet to the fire. They cannot do anything in the dark (that has been tried and resulted in federal indictments) and every step they take will have to stand up against public scrutiny. The past council did many stupid things, but, most of those were meaningless virtue signaling and resulted in nothing of substance.

Get over it! Shake it off and move on. You sound like someone who has already left the City or someone just looking for an excuse to do so. With all of the BS of Cranley, no one can say that the CIty is worse off today then it was 10 or 20 years ago. Now if they could only find a way to treat the westside fairly.

As for Cramerding, he is a nice enough guy and it's better to have a Elder Grad and West Side resident than not, but I have zero confidence he will make a noticeable impact in Price Hill

Agreed. I have had quite a bit of dealings with him. He is undoubtedly a nice guy and an honest one. Can he do more for us than the recent Eastside transplant, Sunderman and the backstabbing corrupt Cranley? I believe so and while the mayor elect is way too liberal for my taste, he does seem approachable and, hopefully, fair.

As a freedom loving American with libertarian tendencies, who lives in the City, I understand that City officials can do little to encroach on my freedoms. That is why I can fully support individuals for city or county offices, who I would never support at the state or federal level.

Seems dramatic. As most are when it comes to any election result.
Have you seen what Aftab ran on? He is as liberal as it gets and has 8Ds to go along with him. There is zero checks and balances at this stage. The people who have the means to move will move unless they have the conviction of Mojo (which is super rare) or vote D themselves.

So, what are you afraid (and I use that word since you appear to be trembling in your boots) that will be done? Shut down the police force? Won't happen. Defund the police force ? Won't happen. Outlaw capitalism? Give me a break. Legalize abortion? Already done. Defund the military? Not in his scope of authority. Increase welfare? Again, not in his scope of authority. Outlaw personal firearms? The courts have already ruled that a city cannot implement greater restrictions than the state has.

What will happen is that the new office holders will be committed to moving the City ahead economically while paying lip service to their uber-liberal political positions by virtue signaling on matters on which they have no control.

Please, change your drawers, take a breath, and move on. The City will be just fine with or without you. You really have nothing to fear unless Pureval and other members of his political perspective continue to control congress. If they do, there is nowhere in the US to which you can move to avoid its impact.

LOL, I was actually giving you a compliment in my post about how strong your conviction is toward PH and the city. But you are out of your mind if you don't think you are in a small minority of people who feel the same way as you. Cincy will move in the direction of Minneapolis with the new council and mayor. We can re-visit this thread in a year or two.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I am anxious to check back in a year. Minneapolis? No way. Cincinnatians are still pretty conservative, even our resident liberals (unless they are virtue signaling) and keep in mind where the real power is in Cincinnati. Many of those with real power are the CEOs that live in Indian Hill and elsewhere. Cranley certainly fell under their spell and Pureval will as well, if he knows what is good for him politically. Money talks and the big money in town will not tolerate any of the things of which you are afraid.

We'll talk next year. In the meantime stay golden.

The voters in Minneapolis voted down the police reform issue. Relax.

Again, seems dramatic. Too many people like you think the sky is falling because X party or X candidate was elected. People let their feelings get in the way of logic. Nothing will become "like Minneapolis" or whatever. You and everyone else will be fine. FWIW, I don't live in city limits, but, if I did, would feel fine with whoever won.

It’s not great, but I’d hit pause on the panic button. The city is still culturally conservative and a Dem in Cincinnati is not the same as a Dem in Minneapolis, Seattle or Portland.

That’s why I wouldn’t panic.

Pureval receives big money from out of the area too. Scotty Johnson newly elected Council Member and Retired CPD Member and former Sentinel President was quoted as saying “not defund” the Police but “Redirect” resources is what he read in Pureval’s public safety plan. How does CPD “redirect” resources when they are down at least 100 street cops? Heard Dan Hills say he went to Roll Call one day last week at D3 and there were only 6 actual Policemen/Street Cops there for that Shift. 6 street Cops on a shift in D3 have literally no chance to meet the call for service demand in that District.

Being a union head is also a political position so I'd temper all things said with that lens. Also seems to have a habit of some outlandish statements.

You saying the FOP Union leader is lying about the low numbers at a Roll Call and overall on the Streets? I was just sent a picture that Pureval is off to Vegas. Gonna celebrate his big win I reckon.

If he truly cared about police on the streets he'd allow for citizen hiring inside the police department. He's about protecting jobs for union members.

Aftab is not long for this position.
I think he plans on moving up and up and up.
