Penn State @ Ohio State

My question is why is a non OSU fan posting on an OSU thread? Try to stir up trouble? When I get on the ND thread, I don't stir up trouble. Try acting like a man instead of acting like a gansta for once. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
It’s not an OSU thread, it’s an OSU vs Penn St thread. I picked Ohio St to win last yr, bc I felt they were the better team and Stroud was way better than Clifford. Now, both QBs are young but I tend to think Allar is better than McCord. He might not be, I could be wrong, but im not going to worship at the feet of OSU.

Bravo, well said, some posters like to act like internet bullies. As for this game I am a big Buckeye fan but I think PSU will win as well (hope i am wrong) does that make me a traitor or less of a buckeye fan?
I’m more caught off guard by ppl thinking im trolling. When have I ever trolled? I gave the most lukewarm prediction in favor of Penn St and the OSU fans got their panties in a knot.

For those so inclined here is where the betting public currently stands on this game:

Ohio State -4
Total 46.5
Penn State +145
Ohio State - 175

These numbers are very close to what we saw for the tOSU @ ND game. I would think then this will be just as close and if I had to bet I would look at Penn State +4. Bad weather is also in the forecast so the under is in play plus Penn State doesn't have that quick strike type offense that could make this thing get out of hand and force Ohio State to rack up points.

As for props the most talked about one is the over/under for Drew Allar passing yards, if tOSU's secondary is weak as the above column in the Athletic says it is he should blow by the 188.5 that is currently listed. I also see McCord blowing by his listed 235.5, I don't see Ohio State being able to run so they will be forced to pass to gain yards.

Oh, you just worship ND. I get it.

If Burke is not playing the corner spot on both sides will be challenged by PSU. I have not been impressed by Igbinosun (sp).
I got caught up in the preseason hype and expected him to be CB1 by a not significant but not insignificant margin. I won’t say I’m unimpressed but I’m not blown away either. But part of that is on me for the expectations.

I too am a Buckeye fan, but always temper my hopes with realism. TOSU could very well lose this game because of PSU's defense might be able to control the Buckeye Oline and running game and pressure McCord into poor decisions . Throw in OSU's penchant for poor special teams, untimely penalties, and poor sideline time management, you have the recipe for a loss . Conversely, the Bucks might surprise me and play a complete game to pull out a close win. Saturday should be fun .

This really seems like a dead heat. I'm expecting a 23-21, last possession wins type of game.

However, Franklin has been known to sniff his own farts a bit and come out with a really bad gameplan that sets his team back a bit. OSU might get lucky and have a shot at a quick start.

Has anyone noticed how small Penn State is on defense? Especially on the DL and Secondary. Bunch of smaller guys in the secondary with little length.

Seriously? Someone else said their O was not impressive. I haven't seen them play. Clifford could really only hurt you with his legs.
Absolutely, Clifford was a damn good college QB who could make things happen with nothing much going on. Same cannot be said for Allar. Allar is very average and just has a strong arm

This isn’t a terribly hot take, to be honest. He’s a sophomore first year starter vs. a 6th year senior that, for all his warts, made an NFL roster. Allar will be better in the end, but I agree for the right now.
I would take Cliffords last two years vs what Allar is now. Remember that Clifford lit OSU up in 2021 as well.

I noticed that Penn State has a couple interesting coordinators involved in this game, we all know about Manny Diaz but they also have Mike Yurcich who had a cup of coffee at Ohio State in 2019. Yurcich bounced around a bit but has settled in at Penn State, some say he is the main reason Allar is there. I have to admit his tenure at Penn State has not really been dynamic but then again his tools have been limited until this year. Franklin's background is OC so I wonder how much say Yurcich has in the offensive game plan and play calling?

I seem to remember Yurcich essentially being asked to find another job during his short tenure at OSU, part of it being due to lack of recruiting. Memory might be off though.

Edit: it was he was incredibly hard to work with. Recruiting didn’t have much to do with it.

Agree on Clifford. The landscape is littered with great or good college QBs who find little success in the pros. Clifford level of play was greater than his athleticism. That I can appreciate.

Sean Clifford was in school for six years and started for four. This kid has a significantly high ceiling/more talent than him.

Clifford was about as mediocre as a QB as Franklin is as a big game coach.
Penn State fans were not happy when he elected to stay for one more year. Any brilliant plays were typically wiped out later on by a horrendous play.

He’s on an NFL roster so he hasn’t been a total failure in the NFL. Dude was just a gamer who could make things happen out of nothing.
