Penn State @ Ohio State

Penn State had two weeks to prepare essentially with a bye week followed by UMass. Do people think that helps or hurts them? More time for the coaching staff to prep, but I think could mean some rust or a slow start from the players.

This is a very good matchup. I can make a very good case for both teams as the better of the two. Lol

It has the feel of a game where the most turnovers, a blocked kick, or a big return turns the game one way or another.

Penn State's advantage is in its defense. I don't care who they have or haven't played, those guys are very good. But Ohio State's biggest advantage is it's receivers, esp Marv, and esp if Egbuka is healthy. Day had a plan that gutted Georgia's defense last year. If he does that here and the Bucks execute, Ohio St wins.

I like our inexperienced QB over theirs. Allar has great stats and has performed well, but he hasn't seen what he is going to see Sat. It would be unusual if he wasn't affected by the best talent he has played against this year in the most hostile environment he has seen. But it's not impossible that he could just ball out. Franklin has been very conservative and protective of him. I think he needs to hit explosive passing plays to increase their chances of a win. It would be really weird if he suddenly starts slinging it down field 30-40 yards successfully in this game when he hasn't done it to this point. But it's CFB, so weird happens.

This game also has a little personal edge to it. Manny Diaz made some cryptic comments a few weeks ago. He evidently thinks he has the players and scheme to stymie Ryan Day's offense and Day and his gang are probably highly motivated to teach Manny some manners. That should give us the best from both sides of the ball.

Can't wait. Should be a great one.

Anyone else going to the game? I got into town last night.
Could not imagine sitting with you at a game. "This guys sucks" "that play call sucks" "we are terrible". Sounds like a great time.

Do you get invited to tailgate? "This beer is stale" "Your burgers are dry" "no brown mustard, terrible decision" yeah, probably not invited...

People cheer in their own different ways, I don’t judge your crying and complaining over on the the Reds thread.

I personally don’t tailgate, never been a fan of it.

Henderson just can't be relied on. At least the others play. What happened to him in the ND game? Did he stub his emotions on the long TD run? It has been the oddest.

As it is, will come down if can pass well. Do that, it won't matter. They stop the pass, we would be potentially in trouble.

And beside all, the wildcard is Franlin who can't win a big road game, well, ever, literally.

What scares me the most is Allar being unleashed finally. He was such a monster in HS.

All we need from him is one 60 yard run. After that, he can go to the tent, then the locker room, and come out in jeans and his jersey. :)

Some guys have the gift of health. Trev doesn't. Not necessarily his fault. RBs take a beating and most have a short shelf life.

I don’t like Burke being out. Have come to expect Henderson to be out at this point so that’s not surprising at all.
Yeah, time for Jordan Hancock and Jermaine Matthews to step up for Burke.

As to the running back room, heaven knows. Ego issues, discipline problems, actual injuries? Day is so cryptic the lack of sound information fuels the speculation.

The lack of sound injury information does no favors to the reputation of a player like Henderson.

Feels like there's been a handful of times now over the last couple years where with virtually no hint of there being an issue he's been a Saturday morning or game time scratch with zero transparency as to the injury.

Honestly, fans do not have a right to information regarding personnel issues, yet as you say, transparency builds good will and support for the program.

Yeah, local media incessantly dogs Day for this approach.
