Pelosi to announce formal impeachment inquiry

Not great news for trump. The impeachment train is picking up steam.

It is? So the democrats will only launch a formal impeachment if the polls show it's to their political benefit? What next focus groups to see if they should impeach? I'm just in awe at the courage of democrat convictions here.

What a great example of democrat high principles. Treat the impeachment process like it's a political action committee. Yea that's the ticket.

If the polls TRULY showed strong support for impeachment nancy & company would have already started the formal process.

No it is just getting through the chaos caused by Trump/Rudy/Fox.

Letter from White House counsel Pat Cipollone to House leaders

I. Your "Inquiry" Is Constitutionally Invalid and Violates Basic Due Process Rightsand the Separation of Powers.

Your inquiry is constitutionally invalid and a violation of due process. In the history of our Nation, the House of Representatives has never attempted to launch an impeachment inquiry against the President without a majority of the House taking political accountability for that decision by voting to authorize such a dramatic constitutional step. Here, House leadership claims to have initiated the gravest inter-branch conflict contemplated under our Constitution by means of nothing more than a press conference at which the Speaker of the House simply announced an "official impeachment inquiry. So if Congress passes formal articles of impeachment Trump will turn everything over and comply with subpoenas?

I don't think so...just a stall/smoke screen.

We won't ever know until they pass the formal articles of impeachment now will we?

Seems like the ball is in the democrats hands and it's their move.

The title of this thread is "Pelosi to announce formal impeachment inquiry." It has been reported on the news that way since. A more accurate title would have been "Pelosi to announce informal impeachment inquiry."

Both sides are making things up as they go. It really is causing alot of confusion and frustration for both sides. Ultimately, Trump is not going to be removed from office. Not sure who this inquiry is going to hurt more.

If he committed crimes and violated his constitutional responsibility why not remove him from office. It is the constitutional duty of the House.

It is resist/impeach at every turn, every day, every week, every month, every year.

To hel! with The People and doing your job as a congressman to solve our problems.

Instead of spending cuts to erase the deficit, instead of immigration reform, instead of infrastructure, instead of passing the MCA, instead of doing anything of long-term benefit for the nation, it is just resist, impeach, resist, impeach, resist, impeach. What a disastrous way to 'govern'; what a world-wide embarrassment.

The House can't remove him from office. That would be up to the Senate. Remember, Clinton was impeached by the House who said he committed crimes and he was not removed from office.

The House and Senate must deal with these situations as they come up. For Trump, it has been partisan harassment from the day that he announced his candidacy. If the trial gets to the Senate, they will look at the situation appropriately and find that no crime has been committed. Checks & Balances work both ways.

From what we're learning about Vice President Biden's actions with Ukraine, Trump had an obligation to insist on his investigation. The most recent Biden dirt has him apparently being paid $900,000 by the Bursima group around the time he was black mailing the Ukraine to get rid of a prosecutor that was investigating Bursima and his son Hunter.

It seems to me that the longer this goes on the sleazier and more criminal the Biden's look. In contrast we're learning nothing new or of substance concerning Trump's call to the Ukraine. There is ZERO evidence of Trump blackmailing the Ukraine or even being all that concerned about them investigating Biden. Probably because Trump knew that the Ukraine had already been looking into Bursima & the Biden's for months before the call.

All we've had are a couple of terrible Trump tweets and his bragging that it was the greatest phone call in history! I'm beginning to think Trump lobs these Twitter bombs out into the public to stir things up and get the democrats to over react.

How is it that the VP of the US has the authority to withhold $1B in aid?
Did Obama authorize him to do that?

The VP has no real authority to do anything except vote in tie breakers in the Senate.

We all agree, let's see the evidence.
Funny how everyone said "he committed crimes" when the whistle-blower first came out and Nancy even started impeachment proceedings before the evidence was out ... then Trump released the transcript debunking the whistle blower and the media, now even you have to start the sentence with "if"???

He didn't. Everyone has debunked the Biden story except G-ROCK/Hannity/TInFoil conspiracy nuts. Now we come to find out Rudy Colloody was grifting like Manafort in Ukraine.

impeachment proceedings haven't even begun yet. The Dems are to scared to call a vote. Just because Nancy held a presser doesn't mean he's been impeached.
No they see the direction things are going and are collecting information (despite Obstruction) As the floodgates open and Trump is becoming more and more of a political liability the GOP Senators will feel the heat....and more information will continue to pour out. I did not think removal from office was even a possibility a couple months ago. Now it is looking like a real possibility as Trump frantically calls McConnell for reassurance.

Actually, they haven't. It's just the media has dropped the ball on asking questions. Ron Paul said as much on CBS this morning when they asked him about it, he pointed out that Democratic lawmakers threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine if they didn't assist the Mueller probe, Biden threatened to withhold aid if they didn't drop the investigation, aid for Ukraine seems to be based on what various politicians want them to do and not national security. The president of Ukraine says there was no quid pro quo, but IF Trump threatened aid, why is it bad for the president and not bad if it's a VP or member of Congress?

A Kangaroo Kourt attempt at a "show trial" from the Three Stooges Pelosi, Schiff, and Cummings has been shown all of the respect that it deserves by Orange Man & Co.

Not true. If anything the evidence is mounting that Biden did in fact do everything Trump is charging and then some. Check this out:

Notes of Rudolph Giuliani's interviews with two former Ukrainian prosecutors include one's allegation that then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko warned him against investigating energy firm Burisma Holdings “as it was not in the interest of Joe and/or Hunter Biden.”

The prosecutor was later fired, under what President Trump says was pressure from Vice President Biden. His son Hunter had a lucrative role on the Burisma board.

And there's growing evidence that the wider Obama administration was involved as well:

In addition to the fired Shokin's claim that President Poroshenko warned him not to investigate Burisma because it was not in the Bidens’ interest, the notes say, the prosecutor also said he “was warned to stop” by the then-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey R. Pyatt.

I'd go as far as to phrase it "Pelosi to announce informal impeachment suggestion stunt"

Maybe they hoped that they'd luck into some info. I sincerely doubt they expected anything.

This was about nothing more than priming the pump or a media/Twitter sh1tshow while they ducked out on a recess. Just that simple.

Big problem for Trump. Impeachment is a political process.

" "

Well then we can expect FORMAL proceedings on impeachment to begin any day now right.

And while impeachment is in some ways a "political process" do you know what is even a better American political process? An ELECTION. You know like the one we're holding NEXT YEAR. How about we decide this using that quaint, old fashioned way of picking the POTUS?

Absolutely. Take the vote. 218, sweetheart. That's the magic number.

Everyone with a brain in his head, even the Democrap tools, KNOWS that there are not that many Congressional House Representatives willing to risk getting voted out because they oppose the President that's helping average Joes lead a better life in America. Not every representative in the US house lives in a rubber stamp Dem District like Queen Nancy and Schiffty Shitfly.

This is nothing but a show. They are pretending to get ready to get ready, and they look like desperate fools once again. Good job, Democrap strategery ! (y)
