Ohio Heritage Conference 2024

I think Fairbanks has a good chance at winning the OHC North. They'll have to contend with Fort Frye in R23. Looking good if you ask me.,

My point was we still have education funding issues, the legislature passed a bill setting utilities rates due to bribes and there are issues regarding fracking in state parks, gerrymandering and home rule for cities. But the most important issue for the legislature was setting a price schedule for hs sports. If that’s what is important save the money and just keep those clowns at home.

Let’s not get into the politics of it on a football forum. Ticket prices is relevant, that’s it.

It seems like the OHC opted to increase adult prices rather than decrease student prices. I am not sure. We have had this coming.

I do think that no one but individual leagues themselves should be mandating ticket regulations. State should have no say in price and if schools are required to offer cash sales or not. Leave it up to the communities and the needs they have.

The crazy thing is when we went at Paint Valley, and used our Buckeye Card, it cost us $3 to get in the football game

I did a little research and i guess you are right, didnt realize they didnt join the KTC until 1985 and dropped out in 96. Then didnt join the OHC until 2014. I just assumed they were in both the entire time.

I think when they first consolidated they were in the DVL through the mid 70's then went to the SCOL through the mid 80's, then the KTC until they joined the BAC late 90's - early 2000's. Then back to the SCOL from 03-13. Then to MSL from 14-16. Then to OHC from 2016-Present.

Agree

Triad @ West Jefferson - WJ has been down this year but not sure they can be as bad as Triad has been. WJ wins 34-7

Cedarville @ Southeastern - 2 teams who have had down years, Cedarville pounds the rock with Coffey, Cedarville wins 28-20

Madison Plains @ Greeneview - MP has exceeded expectations and seem like they will finish 6-4, this being there last loss. GV is by far the best team in the OHC GV wins 42-7

Greenon @ CC - Seems like these 2 teams have a lot of bad blood between them. CC wins in a close rivalry game 19-13

Fairbanks @ Northeastern - Ryker Green is the best RB and possibly the best player in the North, NE seems like they have had trouble stopping the run. Fairbanks wins a close one 34-28

West Liberty @ Mechanicsburg - Seems like no matter what these 2 teams are always in a battle for 4 quarters, Burg will look to keep their 22 game regular season home winning streak alive. Just think West Lib is a little more talented, WLS 35-21

It's probably actually not accurate. Ohio Football database only goes back to 1972. I know for a fact that WLS/Mechanicsburg have played since 1929 and consecutively since 1964. My guess is it's closer to the 75th matchup in that series, but I can only find back to 1972 online.

So a lot of these are probably a bit skewed for the older rivalries.

Also, Madison-Plains did not exist until the 1971-72 school year. Before that, there was Madison South HS and Plains (Mt. Sterling) High School. I don't know how/if the current school counts the records from pre-merger (I think both played football, I know Madison South did).

They both had football. Plains Blue Devils was Mt. Sterling. Couple uncles played for Madison south and my father and other uncles played for Madison plains after they consolidated.

I was wondering what exhisted for Greeneview, Cedarville and Southeastern before the Darby Valley League? The furthest i could go back was 1972, and i know they have all played each other before then. Maybe there wasnt a league back then?

This week is likely the only chance Greenon has to win a game. They have not lost to SCC since 2016. 7 game winning streak.

Did some digging and found a few years prior. Greeneview joined the Darby Valley League in 1956, leaving in 1977 for the KTC. Cedarville joined them in 1961, also leaving for the KTC in 1977. Southeastern also joined the Darby Valley League in in 1963, and again leaving for the KTC in 1977. I think its been mentioned before, but lots of OHC teams were in the Darby Valley League, including Triad (1956-73), West Jefferson (1956-74), Madison South, now M-P, (1956-73), Mt. Sterling, also now M-P, (1957-73), West Liberty-Salem (1961-67), and Mechanicsburg (1963-77).

Prior to the DVL, Cedarville and Greeneview, or the three schools that consolidated to form Greeneview (Bowersville, Jamestown-Silvercreek, and Grape Grove), were members of the Greene County League from sometime in the 1920's until going to the DVL. Other schools in the Greene County League included Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Xenia East, Fairborn, Spring Valley and Yellow Springs.

Wow! That’s awesome information! Where did you find it, I would love to look at it.

I’m pretty sure that both Mt. Sterling and Fairfield (township north of Mt. Sterling and south of West Jeff) had football before consolidating into Plains H.S. in the late 1950s. Mt. Sterling definitely had football. I don’t believe that school was referred to as “Plains” until Fairfield merged with it, and it only lasted for a decade or so before they began working to merge with Madison South (which itself had probably only lasted a short while as a consolidation of Midway, South Solon, and perhaps Madison Rural?) to form Madison-Plains. This all happened within about a 20 year window. In the late 60s Mt. Sterling/Plains was almost part of the consolidation that created Westfall in western Pickaway county.

My grandfather played football for Mt. Sterling in the late 1940s. My father and uncles played at MP and a lot of relatives close and distant played for Plains and MP post consolidation.

Probably hard to find actual info aside from old timers yearbooks, but prior to Madison-Plains all of those smaller pre-consolidated schools played a lot against Madison (i.e. each other, West Jeff, and Alder pre-consolidated parts), Greene, and Champaign county schools.

Mt. Sterling/Plains probably played Mechanicsburg in football just about every year from post-WWII up to the MP consolidation.

Great football weather the last few days!!!!

Cedarville @ Southeastern - Indians get back to back wins after 4 straight tough losses (24-21)

Madison Plains @ Greeneview - upset special...............naaaaahhhhh; Gview rolls with another step to South title (40-17)

Greenon @ CC - Knights get 1st win of season in hostile territory (17-14)

Fairbanks @ Northeastern - Fbanks has tons of confidence after last week but Burg is a step down this year; I believe WLS will be king of the North and NE played them down to the wire; NE gets a tough win (30-28)

West Liberty @ Mechanicsburg - I think WLS will win North and will pick up important win at Burg's house; Burg is down a bit but still dangerous team if WLS is flat or makes mistakes (30-21)

Triad @ West Jefferson - The Riders need a win badly, could be their last one of this crappy season; look for them to get one at home against Triad (28-17)
