Notre Dame

What are you talking about? Love is 100% better than Henderson or Judkins and CB with Moore/Gray/Clark is probably ND’s single biggest positional advantage over Burke/Igbinosun/Hancock. Burke is hurt, Igbinosun is a straight up liability, and I would still take Clark over Hancock. For all Gray’s faults in giving up catches and penalties, he doesn’t give up that many and he balances it out with a ton of ball production. Moore is probably a top 5 CB in the country right now regardless of class.
He is a great back but he would not start over either OSU back. Moore and Gray have performed very well and play in a different scheme but they too would struggle to see the field at OSU. Coaching matters IMO.
Also, Watts is better than Downs right now but that’s the difference between a 5th year senior and a sophomore, even if that sophomore is a future All-Pro. Shuler and Ransom are really similar players, although I would give a slight not to Ransom.
Watts is awesome. I love him. He is NOT better than Caleb Downs.
Sick of people saying Notre Dame has no talent. They have a ton of talent.
They have talent, a ton of it. OSU just has more.

Notre Dame fans are trying to "Fly under the Radar" for this football game for the National Championship.

They think they will win but are keeping there mouths shut.

Nothing I said there was wrong and I do not retract that statement. Watts had 8 tackles, 1 TFL, and a pass breakup forcing the only Howard incompletion of the 1st half (it would have been a pick if Henderson didn't break it up). Downs had 5 tackles and honestly didn't play a great game in coverage (he's still a complete baller). Love was left without a game script where he could touch the ball, but I will at least acknowledge that every RB that played in this game is going to be playing in the NFL, so we shall see. Judkins was the best RB on the field tonight.

Ohio State won this game because their stud WRs beat Notre Dame's stud DBs, their DL generally outplayed Notre Dame's OL (although ND held up ok), and their OL generally outplayed Notre Dame's DL. Game is won in the trenches so you can get the ball to your playmakers, and Ohio State was better at doing both.

i thought Howard..played great HIT KEY PASSES against a some good DB's... I mean 13 for 13 at one point... and made some big plays running when he HAD TOO!!!

A pretty fair assessment, and I give the Irish kudos for never quitting and battling back.

But be honest, the Irish defense had not faced an offense even close to the OSU level. Those numbers for the season were overhyped due to the generally mediocre offenses that they played against. OSU was scoring and moving at will, doing everything they wanted until the great punch out play stripping the ball from Egbuka. Then Kelly and Day went back to ultra-conservative play calling. Could have easily been 41 points or more.

I think Howard turned out great. The first half of the season he underthrew his deep passes but really progressed as the season went on. Also, after that hit he took against Michigan, I'm not so sure he wasn't loopy the rest of that game.

Howard missed the 3rd down pass to Tate in the end zone on the series that led to OSU’s first FG and the 4th qrt game clincher 56 yard pass to Smith was under thrown, smith had his guy beat by 5 yards and had to slow down for the ball. If Smith is hit in stride that’s a walk in td. I do get not wanting to overthrow Snith in that play but still, it was under thrown.

Good for Howard, I think he’s moved up to a possible 3rd round pick. He has the height, weight, speed and will do well in the interviews. It comes down to his passing, he’s ok but not at the level of the Oregon QB. Look at a lot of Howard’s passes last night: mostly to the sidelines about 7-10 yards down the field or Smith td pass with him coming out of the backfield. Howard did hit a couple of passes across the middle and the bomb to Smith. Oline & rb’s did a very good job of blocking & giving Howard time to throw last night as well.

A hell of a season by ND and what a response after the admittingly terrible loss early in the season. Freeman will continue to grow as a coach, it will be interesting to see if he follows Kelly’s trajectory (made a natty in year 3, never returned) or can make it back/win one.
He’s going to get a bump in recruiting IMO. Kids are going to want to play for Freeman (and perhaps even more so, he increasingly looks like a coach that you’d want your kid to play for).

IMO he’s going to regularly have Notre Dame in the expanded playoff and in the hunt to contend for the title. He’s going to level up over Brian Kelly.

Why didnt ND OC give the ball to Love more ? Or Price for that matter? Horrib;le playcalling by ND coaches .Cant win a game running your QB to death . Kid was puking after that first 9 runs he had and ND offense was spent until they got into panic comeback mode which was basically gifted to them on Ebuka's fumble otherwise it would have been over way earlier. ND coaches lost the game or should I say gave ND NO CHANCE . And i discredit ND in this new 12 team playoff until they join the ACC or BIG 10 . They got 20 mil for that game , Ohio St has to revenue share so they only get to keep 2.5 mil. ND are greedy

I do not believe ND will be able to successfully be a Top 3 type of recruiting school on a consistent basis. I believe they will need the portal more so than the other top schools. The admission requirements are higher at ND than most schools. There are not as many 5 star guys who can get into ND and who actually want to go there. I think ND can bring in the guys like QB Leonard: someone not good enough to get a offer from ND coming out of high school but proved in a 2-3 years of college that they can play at a ND. Hopefully their next qb can throw better than Leonard.

ND can pick the top players from a Duke, Wake Forrest, Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, etc. One other advantage ND has in getting back to the College Playoffs; their schedule isn’t that difficult. 5 ACC schools, a couple of service academies, USC, etc

Miami, Texas A&M, USC and Boise are the main competition next year for The Irish.

That is a very manageable schedule for ND. Miami and A&M will have talent but who knows if Mia QB Beck is back for the season opener, he had Tommy John surgery in December. The Boise St game should be a good one. BSU loses their stud rb but their QB and most of their oline returns.

BD schedule is definitely not the gauntlet of a SEC or B10 schedule, a college playoff appearance is definitely obtainable but once you get to the semifinals…..the talent difference starts to show.

Height and weight I agree..not so sure about speed. He definitely had some keys runs but it was painful to watch. Howard did what he needed to do. Move the chains, and limit the turnovers. Im glad he came to play for OSU. He genuinely loved being the Buckeye QB.

Howard will most likely run a sub 4.7 forty.

Is Howard graceful, no but he had a couple of 60+ yard runs at Kansas St, one of which was vs Texas.

I have to say, thank God Notre Dame lost. Was at the game, what a condescending bunch of people. There were a few on our section giving this younger guy in down the row crap for not being an OSU grad and calling him a Walmart Buckeye. That was terrible to see, I’m glad folks around them put those dudes in their place

They can be pretty terrible. Most of their fanbase is comprised of weird people
