Right on. But saying B.G. is historically bad is abit rich.Ok, let me rephrase. They tested the waters by playing a historically bad D3 program 9 and 10 years ago. They haven't scheduled anyone bigger than D4 since. Those are the facts "my guy."
From those facts I would infer that they haven't had a desire to play larger schools consistently (what my original post was implying). There are certainly other factors as well. They aren't geographically close to many larger schools, other than Findlay. I will take the word of you and others that it's not going to happen. Am I wrong?
Look at my picture… I wish it wasn’t true but Maumee and Rossford have more recent NLL titles than the Bobcats. They have 6 winning seasons in the last 20 years. At best they are historically mediocre. I will say that the ‘14 and ‘15 teams were 2 of the best BG teams in recent memory though.Right on. But saying B.G. is historically bad is abit rich.
Yes?Is Northwood joining the SBC?
Remember that the River only exists as a thing because the original SBC wanted to keep Margaretta (and later, Willard), or, at least, didn't want to issue the ultimatum of play-us-in-football-or-you're-gone. Otherwise, the core River schools would still be called the SRL, or even the MAL. Until or unless that sentiment changes, I don't believe that there would be a lot of momentum toward the River Division breaking off.Any chance the River Division breaks off on their own once they get 8 football schools?

And yet the River has brought the SBC the most post season success since its inception.Remember that the River only exists as a thing because the original SBC wanted to keep Margaretta (and later, Willard), or, at least, didn't want to issue the ultimatum of play-us-in-football-or-you're-gone. How so? I realize HL had a state runner-up finish but Clyde won a state championship while Columbian, Norwalk, Oak Harbor, and Port Clinton had final four appearances since they went to the 3 divisions in 2017.And yet the River has brought the SBC the most post season success since its inception.

fostoria wouldnt want to be in the lake division and theres no room for them in the river so fostoria would go to the bay division depend on their enrollment. What division of the SBC?
Well said, Glory days in the 90's/00 diff. 16' was nice & the yr. they popped S.J. Will see if they avenge 97' on Friday.Look at my picture… I wish it wasn’t true but Maumee and Rossford have more recent NLL titles than the Bobcats. They have 6 winning seasons in the last 20 years. Yep, before Conner and the coach who was at BG for a year to “mentor” him BG had largely been at the bottom of the NLL for over a decade. 2014 is the first year the program really began to be competitive again since atleast 2008 when Mershman was QB.Look at my picture… I wish it wasn’t true but Maumee and Rossford have more recent NLL titles than the Bobcats. Columbus Grove was never going to leave for the BVC. They turned down an offer about 10 years ago. They are an original member of the NWC and will stay in the NWC forever or until it folds. The concern was with Bluffton leaving with Ada for the BVC but now that the NWC has stability with the schools right now it's been put on the back burner.Coming from a school employee there was certainly a concern of Bluffton and CG could be BVC targets and this was before the LCC and FL joining that could have been 4 football playing schools plus DSJ. This person was all for moving to the NWC.
I agree the reason it didn't happen was because of the community but was the long-term stability of the NWC a reason some in the community was against the move.
Yeah, Scott Seeliger was on Gary Blackey Football staff at BGSU in 90's. Took Bobcats to an 8-4 record and a second roundYep, before Conner and the coach who was at BG for a year to “mentor” him BG had largely been at the bottom of the NLL for over a decade. 2014 is the first year the program really began to be competitive again since atleast 2008 when Mershman was QB.
Steve Aungst was the head coach prior to Scott. Went 11-19 in three seasons ('10-'12). Jeff Cullen was the head coach before that (27-43 in 7 seasons).Yeah, Scott Seeliger was on Gary Blackey Football staff at BGSU in 90's. Took Bobcats to an 8-4 record and a second round
appearance in the Division III playoffs in 2014 Losing to A tough T.C.C. team @ Lake.
Stayed on as B.G.H.S. athletics director. He was 11-11 @ B.G.H.S. from 2013-2014 (Two Yrs.). Coach Dirk Conner was hired from within by B.G. City School Board. The Head Coach before him (Name is missing on me) is an Asst. now at Otsego was at Eastwood as Asst. as well. He had A few five & five teams if I'm not mistaken. 100% facts about Mershman era.
So they averaged about 4-6 per year for the decade prior (38-62). I’d assume around 2-5 or 3-4 in conference most years.Steve Aungst was the head coach prior to Scott. Went 11-19 in three seasons ('10-'12). Jeff Cullen was the head coach before that (27-43 in 7 seasons).

I took a lot of a crap for mentioning in the summer how Port Clinton to the NBC with LB wasn't going to happen. I think when the dust settles Margaretta goes to the River & PC bolts. You'll probably wind up with 9 in the SBC and 8 in the River (13 in other sports)Hearing rumbles from an AD that will make some SBC posters potentially happy. Many of the posters on here have wanted a split and it seems like the Bay and Lake Schools are leaving the River. I won't name schools yet, but there are two River Schools on the fence to leave with the Bigger Schools or Stay with the River. Either way, they are looking for long term stability.
This may be what happens in the long run, but PC is one of the schools that approved the move, so only time will tell. We as the public should know more after the next meeting. Also, the SBC name will stay with the River Schools.I took a lot of a crap for mentioning in the summer how Port Clinton to the NBC with LB wasn't going to happen. In terms of my knowledge, this was not brought up. I assume the non-football and 8 man teams would stay with the RIverDanbury is trending back towards 11 man football, played a few games in middle school this year and had about 20ish kids playing on the 7/8th team, does this affect the proposed split of the river?

2011 - Started 3-0, 4-1, finished 5-5.Thanks, the two years leading up to Cullen (Denny Marquette final two years) back-to-back 3-7 campaigns.
Yeah, one season they started 5-0 in that Aungst era then dropped last five pretty sure.
I do think that is definitely possible. As I've said in other threads though, I think realignment has chilled out a bit because of the officials shortage in all sports. It's just taking so much of commissioners time up anymore. Keep in mind most leagues try to go 2-3 years out for varsity assignments, if a school jumps ship or you make a new one you're scrambling to fill those games.smurfyeah19,
If Port Clinton bolts, where do you think they will go? Would the NBC take Port Clinton and Liberty-Benton?
I'm sure Liberty-Benton would be interested.I worry about our league sometimes, we lost two members and picked up two new ones. I think we need to add more but options are limited.
I would have no problem at all taking them. I thought we should of the first time around.I'm sure Liberty-Benton would be interested.
Think about as well what they'll have to go through now. Their AD is going to have to work to set the schedules AND find officials for everything since they'll be independent. It's a brutal spot to be inI would have no problem at all taking them. I thought we should of the first time around.
