Northwest Ohio Realignment

Small schools that try to offer everything do end up it seems spreading themselves too thin. However, my school has over 2,000 students, offers EVERYTHING and we still stink haha.
My school is tied for the smallest in D4. We offer more sports than most our size, but we approved dual participation back in the fall and seem to think that will somehow make things better.

whoops i misspoke. meant weeks 1-3. 4-10 should always be filled.
Weeks 1-3 will most likely be non-league games, not bye weeks.

Ohio HS teams play a max of 10 regular seasons games. Usually those are all played before the playoffs so there is no bye week.

But if they schedule less than 10 then they could have a bye week(s), and one of their regular season games can be played after the playoffs begin. In that case their would also be a bye week.

It will be interesting to see what dominoes continue to fall in the SBC as well. Huron is now the size of Lakota, I can't imagine it'll be too much longer before they're demoted down to the smaller division.

The difference is Lakota is the equivalent of Huron JV teams
Agreed. It's very interesting to see them going through a similar downturn like Patrick Henry. The football is still solid (albeit not as strong as it used to be) but the numbers in the halls just aren't there anymore. They'll be fine in the postseason, but you just wonder if a conference that doesn't have D3 crossovers would ever become more attractive.

Judging by how quiet this thread's been for a minute... could it be that the realignment bonanza has finally settled down?

Surely not... 😂

Well, the primary questions that remain are who will be the NLL's 12th member and what is Liberty-Benton's future? Both have been discussed at length and there's no resolution or real sense of urgency at the moment, so it sort of is what it is.

I also wonder when the OHSAA will come around on 8 man football and make it an official sport.
This is the big shoe that will drop. If this occurred though, you'd have to eliminate D7 and mandate a certain number of active players required for 8 man.

The NLL remaining at 11 has as much of a lasting chance as the GBC had. There are definitely a lot of unhappy campers at Northview and Springfield on how they've gotten the short end of the stick in this arrangement. Northview won a combined one game in football and boys basketball this year in their division. That isn't going to fly while Southview racks up wins in the other division.

I would expect closer to Christmas the announcement that Liberty Benton and Port Clinton are joining the NBC.

Which would only mean that the NBC wants to be a 10 school league. If that announcement is coming in the next 4 or so months then obviously there’s already plans for this to happen and word is slowly getting out.

When more than a two handful of schools are interested in playing it. So same reason water polo is not an official sport.
And why it took them so long to sanction Boys Volleyball (really only big in Cincinnati for a long while) and Lacrosse (only big with private schools until the last decade or so).

Heard last week from a guy in the know from the NBC that Liberty Benton and that Maumee going to be the other team.

Wanna bet? I imagine they keep seven 11-man divisions and make 8-man Division 8.
You might be right. The one issue D7 has going unfortunately is a powerhouse in Marion Local that is treating their division like a video game on easy mode. I wouldn't be shocked to see dozens of D7's bolt to 8-man if that occurred.

The amount of schools thinking of the possibility of a state title, let alone making decisions based on that possibility are tiny. And the schools that might consider 8-man don't think about Marion Local at all. It's very much a Yappi concern.
